We recently stayed in the Embassy Suites. Let me begin with the positive: The staff, from beginning to end, was friendly and courteous. The valet staff went out of their way to help us on several occasions. But that's the last good thing I can say. This hotel is hideous. The carpet in the room is worn, dirty, and damp. The furniture is in poor condition. The stairwell had cigarette butts and trash, and door handles were so filthy that, as much as I like to get a little exercise by taking the stairs, I couldn't do it for fear of what I might pick up by turning the handles. I took the elevators, but they weren't much better The floors were filthy. In fact, I never saw anyone cleaning the public spaces -- floors, doors, etc., were filthy the whole time. The outside trash cans were overflowing the whole weekend. It gets worse: our room service consisted of new towels. That's it. We had to ask the maid to return to bring us coffee and to empty our trash cans. She never picked up our used glasses. We made the bed because she didn't bother. She was nice and friendly -- but completely failed to do her job. The whole hotel is clearly beyond the scope of normal maintenance: Hilton should shut this thing down and renovate it top to bottom. And when it gets reopened, they should staff it with enough people, and competent people, to keep it clean.

The room service is so trash they don't change the sheets on the bed they don't change the trash. Room service doesn't come all the way into the room they do not change the towels. As for the food, the cooks need to be able to prepare food for a multitude of individuals. Normally, it can be somewhat tolerable. However, when you are unable to to serve bread that is not as hard as a brick you need a serious change in staff. The water was spicy, the juice was acidic and mostly expired, the salad tasted older than my age, and the broccoli-asparagus hybrid you served us did not taste pleasant. I faught the food to get it in my mouth. However the toilet and shower were very nice.

The staff was great but the rooms were terrible.  I regularly use Hilton hotels and have always loved them but this one is the exception.  When I booked using Hilton web page I was able to select the room I wanted but when getting to the hotel I was not given that room.  The room I was given had an AC unit that did not work, the carpet was not put in correctly and was uneven, and several of the lights were out.  The second room was better but still not up to the expectations I have grown accustomed to in other Hilton Hotels.  The Breakfast was terrific everyday!!  The snack in the afternoon was a below average.

Check in was amazing the front desk staff was very friendly and accommodating with our request for an early check in.  The managers reception was great, the bar staff was quick and friendly.  Breakfast was great as well, plenty of food with to many options to mention. The staff was friendly, greeted everyone and were quick to clean tables and ask if you enjoyed your breakfast.  Now to the room.  You will be hard pressed to find a room the size of the suites at the embassy.  There were a few issues however.  There were a couple of hairs on the shower curtain, the thermostat seems to fluctuate.  At 68 degrees the rooms were cool but comfortable, the later it got however, the room became hotter and hotter.  Even though the thermostat was on 62 it felt like 72, but it wasn't ever unbearable.  The refrigerator door was open when we came into the room.  No big deal, one of our guests brought a 12 pack of drinks and put the box in the refrigerator and we closed it up.  The beer was cool with no issues in no time.  The next morning when we opened the refrigerator there was a roach in there.  This very well could have come from the box of drinks, we really don't know.  We heard a few complaints from other guests while riding in the elevators, one gentleman said that his ceiling had mold in his room.  Another group was complaining because a guest who was late arriving walked up to the front desk and asked for a key to their room.  The room key was issued to her without verifying ID.  That was a bit concerning.  We had five people stay in our room very comfortably, and if you are attending a function downtown you can't beat the convenience factor.

This is a very nice Embassy Suites, especially for Montgomery. The rooms are spacious and its location can't be beat -- right across the street from the convention and performing arts centers, and within 5 minutes walking to several restaurants. The breakfast is what you'd find at any Embassy Suites (good!) and there is a small pool on-property. The hotel also has a nice little bar, serving up drinks, appetizers, and pizzas. Only downside is the $14/day parking fee. Good spot; recommended!
