First off let me say that I have NEVER taken a class here, I've never even entered the building until this morning. My sweet husband bought me a Groupon for the special they have, one month unlimited. I was super excited to use it, being organized by nature, i went on the website, registered as a new customer, chose a class and thought I put my name down in the class, got there at least 20 minutes early so I could ask questions, look around and familiarize myself with the surroundings. That's when my highly desired stress free morning turned into a very UNenjoyable experience. There were several people checking in, it was extremely unorganized, but I get that, it's NY weekend and a lot of folks join health clubs at this time, I'm still excited and looking forward to it. The one person attending the desk ask me if I've ever been there before and I say no ma'am but I filled out a profile online and scheduled and appointment, she proceeds to tell me, that doesn't matter, you still have to sign a waiver, in what i consider a very rude and unprofessional manner, but no big deal, I get stressed, I just came off one of the most stressful 4th QTRS in history of my career. (which is why i was excited about the yoga) so I take what I now know is a waiver and complete it, I gave her the groupon and the waiver, and she proceeds to tell me to go into the room and we'll worry about paying later? I just gave you the groupon showing we paid, but again, no big deal. I say, okay but I came for the 10:30 class, you know so I didn't have to rush, and she says, YEAH and the class is getting filled up, like I'm an idiot, I can assure you I am not an idiot, at least not the last time I checked, the class was so crowed at 15 minutes before it was supposed to start I don't know how on earth it would have been comfortable, at that point I just asked her to return the groupon to me and said thank you. I can understand, tolerate and even appreciate stress on many levels, but I certainly will not tolerate someone acting towards me as if it's my privilege to be in a place where i'm expected to pay for services. I'm extremely disappointed as I was looking to have a long term relationship in what I thought was a lovely shop in our beautiful city. I hope that things get better for that young lady but I will never go back there again. Thanks for ruining my NYE weekend and my stocking stuffer from my trying to be very thoughtful husband.

I have been to many yoga studios as a yoga teacher, and Ember is, by far, the kookiest. I signed up for the 30 day new student special, and my first class was with Chyla. Her instruction was good, but the weird sound effects she made as students went in and out of poses were annoying. Then, during savasana, she played Christian music that was very distracting. Students come from many religious backgrounds (or none at all) and the classed should cater to ALL. Yoga should NOT be associated with ANY religion! Then, I went to Devin's yin class. To add to what already was already a questionable experience for me, he read Bible verses throughout the class with a booming God complex tone. Ugh. So I moved on to Joe's hot sequence class. Like other's have said it is very "militant". I was recovering from a shoulder injury and had to do my own adaptations to avoid further injury. I was dismayed when he was right behind me loudly correcting my posture. Any responsible teacher usually asks before classes if there are any students with injuries they need to be aware of. This was not the case in ANY of the classes. I will say that I thoroughly enjoyed Jason's yin class. He is a great teacher and is wonderful! Even so, I will not be going back to Ember.

Hands down this is my favorite yoga studio. The staff is always nice and the facilities are amazing. The instructors are completely knowledgeable and helpful, which is great if you are new to yoga.

Excellent studio accommodations - complete with separate rooms for regular & hot yoga experiences. Locker rooms have showers and amenities as well. The instructors are knowledgeable and respectful. Plan on going back after our trial expires.

The customer service was by far the worst I have ever experienced. I reached out several times prior to my first class, emails were bounced back and the phone was never answered. The answering machine even says not to leave a voicemail since it is not checked. The front desk staff was unwelcoming and extremely rude. I was very disappointed in the service and would not recommend this studio. The teacher was a sub and started the class late and did nothing to assist the numerous new customers in the class.
