Emerson’s was the perfect date night. Smaller, intimate, with a romantic feel throughout. The wine menu was extensive and I was shocked at the pricing. So affordable for downtown. The menu has something for everyone and the portions are huge. The penne could have been 3 meals. The prices were fantastic for the quality and size. Will absolutely come back again and again.
Absolutely perfect date night place. Romantic ambiance that makes conversation easy and encourages lingering over a seriously great dessert. The wine is excellent and the cocktails are both unique and tasty. Service is excellent.
Emerson's has really turned things around so don't let some of the negative reviews dissuade you from going here. They have some phenomenal cocktails, awesome wine special, and their food is very good as well! Service has been attentive and friendly our past visits and they're quite accommodating for large parties if you call ahead enough.
Solid. I know it's a boring thing to call out, but the brussels sprouts were incredible. I get people are picky with restaurants, but as of writing they're pulling a 4.2, which seems punitive. The food was great, the prices were great; I love the place.
Let me preface the review with the fact that I know the impact they can have on small businesses and I’m not just writing to complain about a bad experience. I think this restaurant has potential and hopefully ownership utilizes the feedback. 1st off. Staff was friendly, I will comme When we arrived for our reservation we were unable to be seated due to other parties still being present. Not that big of a deal, except that there was no where for us to wait except right next to the table we were waiting to clear out. Somewhat awkward. We were seated and asked water preference. It was brought out quickly. However that was the last time we ever had water in our glasses. We then ordered drinks and our first course. After about 30 min our server brought out a round of wine for 5/6 of our party and apologized for the wait. Then the final person was given their original wine they ordered…slightly confusing and I would have just preferred to get my original drink. I then watched our food arrive and be sat at the bar. Which was followed by the deliver of 2 more drinks. Then a few minutes later with 4/6 drinks on the table the food was brought over from the bar. I will confirm from another review that the charcuterie board is indeed something comparable to an adult lunchable. Also the majority of the small plates were cold…from sitting. The final drinks arrived…and were not good. After a long time, we ordered mains and a second round of drinks. Much later our food arrived. After several inquires the drinks again arrived in several waves. I’ll just say the food was not good. One person did not even touch their plate. We were brought 3 small desserts 6 people to make up for the slow service….again a nice albeit strange gesture. The location and space is awesome. So much potential. I’ll be back and if things are different my review will reflect it.
Food was absolutely delicious! Service and workers were so friendly, the vibe was both modern and intimate. Highly recommend!
Great little hidden spot in downtown Pittsburgh. Absolutely loved the fireplace and overall setting. The food was both beautiful and delicious! I was actually surprised at how reasonable the pricing was. The previous few upscale restaurants I’ve visited you couldn’t even get a steak for less than $38. I also had a great conversation with the server about some shared interests. I can’t remember his name ,but he was definitely great at what he does. We will be back for sure!!
Had a great night out with the family here! The cocktails were fantastic and Ashley, our server was attentive and made sure we had a perfect dining experience. The dishes were superb, cooked perfectly and hot when it hit our table. I highly recommend the crab cakes. This is definitely a hidden gem in downtown/market Square. Will be back very soon!
I have mixed feelings about this place. Showed up around 5 to an almost completely empty restaurant and completely empty bar. The bartenders glaring at us when we walked in.. Hostess finally approached us and asked if we had a reservation. We didn’t but again.. place was almost completely empty. He had to ask to see if it was okay if we could come in?? He finally allowed us in to only sit at the bar. Which is fine. We order drinks I had the pear spritz that was ok and a $20 charcuterie board. The board was enough for a toddler, not 2 adults and listed as a “shareable”. There are 6 people behind the bar. And since the bar was empty besides us.. they just stared at us and made us feel super uncomfortable. Along with this, a manager came up and scolded them about something with the food elevator. It was extremely awkward and also extremely rude. Who said it’s okay to speak to employees that way? Let alone in front of guests. The whole experience was quite odd. Points for pretty interior and cozy fireplace but that’s all really. Overpriced and awkward.
I love this place - very cool decor, cocktails and great food and wine in a chilled out environment.
