Based on ONE journey to Facing East. The braised pork rice: very good. Solid pickle radish. Fatty pork. Nice side vegetable. I wish there was more rice, but oh well. Pork sandwich: good, 4 star. Bread is awesome. Pork is good. Ingredients solid but don’t like peanuts generally in this format. Eggplant dish for take out? Awesome. Most Chinese restaurants do a great job. I would get this all day. I haven’t tried the mango sago yet but bought it and we’ll see how that goes later. Overall: easily a 4.5 star rating.
Well it’s nice that they have something able to take immediately so you don’t have to wait for long time, otherwise the wait can go up to 20-30 mins. The price are definitely affordable, which is nice. The drink are good, you can tell… well obviously it’s home made style rather than restaurant style.
This place is great! The popcorn chicken smells so good in the car and I totally should’ve finished it before it gets cold! The tofu dish is also so yummy and authentic. Loved all the pork dishes! Will definitely come back for more!
Prices keep going higher and the meat sizes are getting smaller. At least choose one negative thing to do at a time.. 15.50 for 4 small pieces of pork, 3 pieces of bok choy and rice is getting ridiculous at this point that's why I go back less and less. It used to be a weekly thing now I go back once every 2 months. Other places are on a rise with more moral prices
Facing East is a great place for Taiwanese food. I've ordered from here over 10 times and will gladly be back for more. Their beef and pork are some of the best I've had in Bellevue. I highly recommend the braised pork dishes, Taiwanese style pork burger, shrimp roll, and beef noodle soup in particular. The sauteed rice vermicelli, salt and pepper prawns, and sauteed slice lamb are also great but not quite as memorable. I didn't enjoy the Hakka style stir fry or bitter melon with salted duck egg too bitter. Note that the location recently moved from downtown Bellevue to a couple miles east and no longer has indoor seating.
Although the menu doesn't list many vegetarian options, most items can be made vegetarian upon request. I tried the vegetarian burger because I was craving some good gao bao and was a little disappointed by how dry the burger stuffing was. Felt very overpriced as well. I will probably look for other options next time. Vegetarian options: Although the menu doesn't list many vegetarian options, most items can be made vegetarian upon request.
Sad they don't have a dine in restaurant anymore but their takeout is convenient. Delicious Taiwanese food, very fresh ingredients and their clerks are very helpful in explaining any food. They have traditional dishes like wood ear fungi/mushroom salad, pig ear salad, spicy cucumber salad, jelly fish salad, and snow lotus dessert drink.
In case you aren't aware, this place has switched to TAKEOUT ONLY. To our disappointment we drive all the way from Seattle only to find this out. But technically it's listed in the Updates as Takeout only, even though Google lists it as Dine In. The food was good during Dine In, so I'll leave it at 5 stars for now.
Came here on a Thursday night and there was no wait for a party of four! Food: We got a good mix of stuff in the menu such as the wide noodle dish, the egg battered winter melon, the tofu egg dish, the string beans, and oyster mushroom. My personal favorite was the tofu egg since it was super fluffy and had a good amount of veggies in it too! The mushroom also had a nice leathery texture which was great. Service: Food was brought out super quickly and we were checked in on decently often! Ambiance: Classic Asian restaurant but had more of a dimly lit vibe and was very elegant inside. Overall enjoyed the experience and very good authentic Asian food that doesn’t leave you feeling too oily.
Amazing Taiwanese food. As authentic as it gets. One of the best in the Seattle Bellevue area. Recommended come early because wait time is long due to popularity. You will understand why once you start eating. My family from Taiwan love this place and that speaks to how awesome this place is. My absolute favorites are the Hakka style chow fun and the pork chop rice. I forgot a picture of that one because it's so good. However you cannot go wrong with anything on this menu. I highly recommend the shave ice order when you are with a group. The small order is big enough for 4-5 people.
