Stellar staffing. Each and every one of the trainers is encouraging and highly trained at making sure you get the most out of your workout time.  I never felt that I didn't get the expert feedback to protect my injured ankle and/or to tweak my body "just so" to get the most out of a particular workout even though we are in small groups of 2-4. It turned out that exercising with other ladies had the bonus of inspiring me because I'm next to a 60 year old that is fit and kicking butt! It was better than a private trainer for that reason. The Mill Valley location is also convenient to  run errands at the post office, grocers, farmer's market, etc...

Most gyms in Marin are for disciplined, often sports-minded folks but this one is dedicated to me. I'm older and never exercised before. it works because they actually listen and pay close attention to what's going on with my body, constantly keep me out of physical "trouble" by quietly correcting my posture or adjusting my weights, help me know my limits, and pump me up when I get dispirited with the physical demands. I've been coming 3X a week for 5 years and credit this gym and its wonderful careful staff with getting me away from my desk and computer, off the couch, eating healthy and feeling fit. A huge thank you to the gifted long-term staff and the wonderful women they train everyday.

I joined GIS Mill Valley almost 1 year ago at the age of 66.  My goal was to increase muscle strength and cardiovascular capacity.  I did not need to lose weight.  One year down the road I have made significant progress in both categories.  I feel better and look trimmer.  I am much fitter.  GIS works for me.  The facility is clean.  The trainers are smart, supportive, challenging and kind.  The appointment system works well for me, providing incentive and accountability but still allowing enough flexibility to accommodate real life schedule changes, vacations, and the like.  I have tried other gyms, other classes and other routines.  This is the one that works the best for me by far.  It is one of the best investments I have ever made.

Great place to get an excellent, well-paced, challenging workout in a small group environemnt with a trainer.  I have lost 7 lbs so far and looking to lose more.  But even better - I have tons more energy and feel so invigorated.  It's fun - try it.
