GW Bryan Hospital comprises two adult psychiatric service divisions.

Adult Services - Bryan’s Adult Services patients are admitted primarily from the 33-county Midlands, Pee Dee, and Lowcountry regions of South Carolina. The majority of patients are civil involuntary admissions.

Forensics - The Forensics Division provides inpatient evaluation and treatment, rehabilitation, and outpatient services. Admissions are court-ordered from across the state through the judicial system.

The employees were extremely rude and those on duty throughout the night in the area of the patients would actually sleep. I couldn't believe what I witnessed by their behavior. I was there in 2015 & had no idea of to actually complain to about this. Thank goodness I found this site. The state really should look into the treatment of the patients & behavior of the employees.

LOW WAGES, GOVERNMENT COULD CARE LESS, ABOUT FUNDING MENTAL HEALTH, ONE OF THE BIGGEST PROBLEMS ARE STIGMA, DISCRIMINATION AND OUTTA SIGHT OUTTA MIND.  YES I WAS THERE 3 DAYS. THAT WAS 3 DAYS TOO MANY. FUND MENTAL HEALTH.  BECAUSE PEOPLE COMPLAIN OF THE MENTALLY ILL (DISABLED)  WALKING AROUND AND IN ER'S. WELL FUND IT.WE ARE NOT A PIECE OF TRASH OR SOMEONE TO LOOK DOWN ON, MAKE FUN OF, BECAUSE ANYONE OF THE ONES WHO DO THOSE THINGS(AND IT WILL) HAPPEN TO YOU. MENTAL HEALTH SYSTEM IS A SHAMEFUL POSITION TO BE IN. SO THINK ABOUT IT AND IT COULD BE YOU.

This is one of the worst mental health facilities I can possibly imagine. I believe much psychiatric trauma is caused by a person being sent to this horrible facility. The"care" givers are harsh, disrespectful to the patients, and seem to be fearful and almost sadistic with them. There is NO mental health plan such as psychotherapy, music, art, cognitive behavioral therapy, nothing but drugs, and LARGE doses of them! My nephew was told often that he could not refuse any medication they wanted to give him, against his and his family's wished, or they would strap him in a chair and inject him with it. He had signed himself in at The Rivers for psychiatric help and they took his rights away and sent him to this tortious place. Then upon his release he received a bill for$15,000 dollars. He is on Medicaid but when I tried to file for coverage I was informed that Medicaid would not cover the cost of his stay there since he was over 21. Now my mentally disabled 22 year old nephew who can't work and is on public assistance has to pay$15,000 to a facility that harmed him psychologically!! His current psychiatrist was disturbed by how over medicated they had him and of course these drugs are DANGEROUS to play with. Horrible, horrible place!!! I'm trying to give zero stars but it won't let me. No starts for this barbaric hole!
