Dr Garfias has been great to our family every year. I even recommended him to other people and they loved him. He's professional and even personable. Whenever I needed him to fill any paperwork for my work he's always been on top of it.

Went in for a physical and was told over the phone it would cost $100. When I went to pay the secretary told me the cost would be $160, and that the $100 fee was for returning patients. I was very clear over the phone when I called to check on the cost beforehand, and feel taken advantage of. It's no wonder this doctors office is empty. I was going to make Dr. Garfias my primary care physician, but that's out of the question now. I would advise finding another Doctor

Dr is a detective more than a doctor. If you are afraid of people misusing narcotics, join the police force. A doctor needs to find the root cause of patient issue, if you don't want to prescribe any behind the counter painkiller for a legitimate issue, and you have not found root cause, please be something else

I went to this doctor for the first time for a physical. He was "In-network" for Blue Cross and Blue Shield and my insurance covers physicals. Before I had the appointment I asked the receptionist if we could check with Blue Cross to make sure that the physical was covered and that my insurance would pay for everything. She said, "no problem, we do blue cross all the time, this will be fine". I repeated that we should double check and she told me "no, everything is taken care of". I had the physical, blood work, etc.. Everything O.K. There is a big sign on their front desk that says "ALL visits must be paid in full before patient leaves" (or something to that effect) When I was finished I walked up to the counter to double check before I left if everything was still fine. I was waved goobye, have a good day. A month later I get a bill from the Lab asking me to pay $65 for two of the five blood tests. I called the insurance company first, they said "we don't cover those tests" (I still dont know what tests they are because they weren't labeled on the bill.) I called the doctors office asking what tests were ordered that my insurance wouldn't cover. They said, "we don't know, but it's not our problem either way, if your insurance won't cover it then it's your responsibility" I asked "isnt it your responsibility to inform a patient what they have to pay for and what they don't before you perform a service?" I mean, if you go to a mechanic for an oil change and they charge you for a new drain plug without asking, that's wrong. Right? I don't care if it's $5, you should still ask. In this case (especially because I asked the receptionist twice about billing) I should've been informed before ANY service was performed, how much it should cost. Period. And I believe that ALL health care should be that way. Until we have Single Payer, you should be able to go in, get an estimate, and decide what to do. NOT, go in, recieve whatever service they want to give you, and be billed for it however much they want to charge. THAT IS WRONG and it's illegal in every country except for the United States.
