One of the best authentic Japanese cuisine is offered at Geido. Everything is fresh and flavorful including sashimi and sushi. For those who are not keen on raw seafood, they do have cooked items on the menu to satisfy almost any palate and they are not greasy. This is a neighborhood gem and so glad I live nearby to enjoy it often!

Perfect Japanese food restaurant. The ramen is delicious, the sushi rolls are fresh and all different. The staff is friendly and helpful. They are open for lunch from Friday to Sunday but the rest of the week is just for dinner.

This gem of a true hive is one of only two (2) REAL Japanese (authentic native born/speaking, owned and operated by Japanese people/chefs) establishments in the North Brooklyn, greater dntw area - Pk Slope to BK Hghts to Ft-Greene/Clinton Hill/BAM* (DoFoBa for Dntw-Ft.Grn-Bam). The only other known real one is Hibino (333 Henry St @ Pacific St). The owner of Geido is also head chef and Sushi-Ya master named Sam (Osamu 'Sam' Koyama), who has been an institution and landmark fixture in the community for over 35yrs. Arguably the best sushi and Tokyo-style bistro specialties in all of Brooklyn, including south of Lower Manhattan. Any expert or well-seasoned foodie would give this establishment the highest rating possible, or otherwise if it's the typical “local competitor”… fake authentic establishments (clue: empty tables, Chinese or Korean owner/operator/chef, etc) which obviously try to smear and “fake rate” Geido very low, using weirdly off the mark and misleading comments – these dime-a-dozen fake “Japanese Cuisine” and “Sushi” bars and stores/take-outs typically don’t know what they’re doing or saying! *Including Bro-Nav-Cli -- Brooklyn Navy Yard / Clinton Hill

Been at this location a long time, gotta new look (gentrification in a good way) but food & service are still good.

Everything you would expect to see in a true Japanese restaurant. Including the always drinking with customers master chef at the sushi bar 😂. Very local Japanese style. Showing is a sushi set with futomaki, and oyakodon. Futomaki is like the mother's fat boy roll, which Japanese mother made for their children's picnics. Something very basic, but you can easily test how real a Japanese sushi restaurant is. Simple and tasty.
