Loved this place!!! Beautiful views, so conveniently located, quick drive to red rock, garden of the gods, pikes peak and many many other places. Very well kept grounds and clean bathrooms and showers. Showers are very small but hey its camping.. All the employees are very friendly and helpful. They have trails to walk playground for kids and trout fishing. Also the May bug museum is here. One of my favorite parts of camping here was being able to hear the bugle morning noon six and 10... We stayed here for two nights this past weekend and my only complaint is that the campsites are literally on top of one another. Maybe it's just the fact that I'm use to camping in the middle of nowhere for free and having to pay for camping and then finding out you're only a couple feet from your neighbors was a little annoying to me. We choose to camp here with no hook ups because of the Pikes Peak International race and everything else was booked. Otherwise I'd never pay to camp. Other than being extremely close to your neighbors and not having any privacy, the area was well maintained, clean, and quiet (they have a quiet rule that goes into effect at 10pm). They offer free showers and indoor plumbing for those who don't like taking a pee in the woods. The gift shop/museum offers bags of ice for $4 and firewood bundles if you run out. It's easy to find and you can also fish their pond for $7 per day. I highly recommend sitting on the dock at the pond because the views are amazing on that side of the campground. The staff was very nice and friendly and would check if we needed anything including firewood and they kept the showers and bathrooms clean each morning and night. All in all it was a nice stay and since our neighbors were there only one night, the second night was a little better since we didn't have neighbors. (For warning though, if you camp by the bathrooms you're going to see the lights from the building all night and they're extremely bright. We had to turn our mattress around so they wouldn't keep us up all night).

Nice area. Great view of the mountains. Clean bathrooms with good showers. Nice little private lake to fish. Plus the kids loved the awesome insect museum with over 8,000 preserved insects from around the world. Everywhere else around Colorado Springs was booked up but thank goodness we found this place. Ladies in the office were super nice.

Electric/water campsites are on top of each other. Literally less than 5 feet from the next site over. So you can hear everyone around you clear as day. Especially when they are loud during all parts of the quite hours. Some campers just arrived at 9:40pm and are putting up their tent a few feet away about to hammer in their stakes and my kid is guaranteed to wake up. Ground is HARD and ROCKY so make sure you have good stakes and a mallet. Bathrooms are decently clean, although they never shut the doors so they are full of moths. No soap or hand dryer. Saw a review that the sites near there are really bright from the bathroom lights. They do shut off. The dumpsters near the bathrooms smelled like rotting animals. You are very close to a highway and the Air Force base, with loud helicopters and Reville etc. on the PA, so expect a 6:30 wake up call and a ear-piercing Taps at 10pm. There is also a gun range next door. Our campsite fire ring was not recessed and did not have a grate to cook on. Had to cook hamburgers on a camp stove. Lots of bugs, and I'm not talking about the museum. We went for Pike's Peak and also found great recreational hiking/waterfalls at North Cheyenne Canon Park. I won't be back in this area of the state, but if I were I definitely would not return to this campground.

We found this place online pretty highly rated but it did not stand up to its name. The staff was nice but everything else wasn't. Our tent site was a muddy dirt lot and very uneven. We weren't provided a picnic table and the bathrooms were always either being "cleaned" or had other problems. The laundry room didn't have quarter machines and all the roads are poorly kept. DO NOT STAY HERE IF YOU WANT TO TENT CAMP. I don't know about the RV sites but tent camping is awful.
