Story

In 1994, Danny Meyer opened his second restaurant, Gramercy Tavern. A revival and renewal of the classic American tavern, Gramercy Tavern offers refined, seasonal American cuisine, warm hospitality and unparalleled service. Set in an historic landmark building, the restaurant blends the genteel comfort of the countryside with the sophisticated energy of its urban environment. Gramercy Tavern has twice received three-star reviews in The New York Times (2007, 1995), holds one Michelin star, and has been perennially ranked among the top of Zagat Survey’s Most Popular List, holding the number one most popular spot six times. In 2008, the James Beard Foundation honored Gramercy Tavern with its “Outstanding Restaurant Award” and in 2012 Chef Michael Anthony received the James Beard Award for “Best Chef: NYC”.

I cannot say enough about how amazing Gramercy Tavern is. Have been on numerous occasions at this point, and it never fails to amaze me on so many levels. Their seasonal menu is well-thought out and put together, and the food is always delicious. The flavor combinations are out of this world and are balanced perfectly. I can honestly say 3 of the top 5 meals I have ever had were here at Gramercy. Also, the cocktails are complex and delicious, and are always made with such care. What stands out to me the most is the level of professionalism and knowledge of the staff. Any questions regarding the food or cocktails is answered with exquisite detail. On top of that, the staff here is so welcoming, engaging and friendly, and every time I visit, I feel as if I am at home. I can personally vouch for the services of the bartenders Siobhan, Ali, Victoria, and Mark, and the servers Christina and Rob. All in all, if you are looking for an amazing overall experience, from the food, the drinks, and the exceptional service, I would highly recommend checking this place out.

Number one meal we had in New York! This was what I was just what I was expecting. Great selection of courses. The place was extremely busy which was a good sign of the popularity and quality we were receiving yet it did not impact on the service, only added to the atmosphere. The head waiter kept the service and standard high and did a fantastic job. The food itself was at the highest quality, well worth the money. Overall may appear slightly expensive but well worth it for the meal and with no mandatory tip tacked on at the end it puts it in line with most other restaurants prices. All in all highly recommended. Shame we left the best till last as we would of been back again.

The four of us got the tasting menu for lunch. Signature $89 and Vegetable $79 tasting menus were amazing! First time here, only heard about its greatness, but expectations were exceeded. I feel like I had 5 entrees and 3 desserts, all sized to satisfaction. Quality and taste were exceptional. Must do if you're in Manhattan.

I attended a bridal shower at Gramercy Grill and was very pleased with the cuisine, everything was delicious (I had the scallops, duck and fantastic pudding) The reason for my review is for the service. It truly was exceptional! I accompanied the mother of the bride, who is wheel-chair bound and from entry to exit, the staff was accommodating while not being overbearing. Jason, in particular was stellar!! I would highly recommend Gramercy Tavern to all. My only regret is that I didn't order a burger to go. They looked amazing!!

The service here is excellent, attention to detail is unbelievable. I called to asked for a later reservation, the host said he would "make a note" which usually means nothing. They called back a week later and said they had a later opening. That is great follow up! Nice work!
