Highly recommended! Do venture into River trail though, don't get stuck at Overlook 3. It gets pretty crammed with tourists there, just follow the trails along the river. Tip: go late to avoid crowds and the falls look fab in sunset. Mind your watch though so that you get back on time before it is dark. Overlook 1 is great for a closer look especially when you get some pros on their kayaks.

Breathtakingly pretty scenery, magnificent trees and foliage all around. Though a first-timer, I am certain that the park offers beauty in every season. Will be definitely back again soon! Some advice; queues should be expected before the parks gate, it's normal. Entrance fee is $10 per vehicle, ca$h preferred:) Have some mosquito repellent, comfy shoes & outfit suitable for the terrain (in case you too like to climb around a bit). Keep your water bottle, there are some refill taps around. And oh, there's a large picnic area, may bring your barbecue along with some food to grill on it! PS: hugely disappointing to see SO MANY plastic bottles, cups and cans thrown around. Folks, give nature some respect!!

A beautiful piece of Mother Nature, easily accessible in northern VA. The overlook platforms are very close to the visitor center, so you only have to walk maybe 300 yards total. But take a walk down their trails, you'll find picnic areas, areas of historical interest, ruins from old canal locks, and off the beaten path scenery of the river and even more falls and rapids. Visitor Center is nice as well with displays.

Where do i begin... I want to first say that it is beautiful BUT the people who come to visit will ruin the moment for you. This is suppose to be an area where you can escape DC but there are some who forget that it is nature. It is suppose to be a great place to bring your dog, so we did. But after walking towards the visitors center, we encountered ZERO trash cans and ZERO doggy bags. We paid $10 to get into this park and they fail to give people the ability to clean up after themselves. Granded, our dog used the bathroom off the path and into the woods, there was still an old man and his miserable old wife who decided to take time out of their day to bother me and my boyfriend on our one day off in two weeks to tell us about how our dog ruined their time. So, please provide doggy bags so dog owners can clean up after their pet. The bags are cheap and they are literally everywhere else in the world except this park. We would have brought our own if we knew there wasn't going to be any and/or if we knew rude DC folk would be there to complain about nature. Honestly, go to Scott's Run. It's FREE it's more welcoming and people are always more friendly. I went to this park because everyone told me how beautiful it was but they clearly failed to mention how fake everything and everyone was.

I really enjoyed this park as a first time visitor. As stated on the website and on signs entering the park, expect an extensive wait when driving to the park. However, I recommend NOT turning around and leaving due to the wait. It is a beautiful park that not only has the scenic falls/river, but it is also augmented with a few easy trails. Enjoy and be safe!
