Story

Dr. Lisa M. Schoene is a triple board certified podiatrist and Certified Athletic Trainer. For over 22 years she has been a top general sports medicine, running medicine, and dance medicine doctor. She has been a Physician at the Olympic Games, On field with the World Cup Games, and Sports Podiatrist with De Paul University athletics for over 22 years. She has worked at the Olympic Training Center, covered numerous Marathons, and Triathlons and has been a consultant to numerous Professional dance companies, such as The Joffrey Ballet, Hubbard Street Dance, Ballet Chicago, Inaside Chicago Dance, to name just a few. She is an author and regularly lectures to medical students, doctors, Athletic Trainers, local dance companies, and running groups. She and her associate Dr. Erin Smielewski always uses a well-rounded, holistic conservative approach to treating patients, prior to any surgical or more invasive treatment. Dr. Erin M. Smielewski joined Gurnee Podiatry and Sports Medicine as an associate in 2010. She received her podiatric medical degree from the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine while graduating at the top of her class. She completed her 3-year podiatric surgical residency at Mercy Hospital and Medical Center in Chicago, where she served as chief resident. She is board qualified in podiatric surgery for both forefoot and rearfoot and is certified to perform ankle arthroscopy. She is committed to providing the highest level of care for patients of all ages with foot and ankle pathology by possessing excellent communication and diagnostic skills that allow her to make a diagnosis and tailor patient specific treatment plans. She is seeing patients at the Park City location and is currently accepting all new patients. Dr. Smielewski is on staff at Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital and Hawthorne Surgical Center. She also practices at Lake Forest Place/Balmoral Care center as well as at Westmoreland Nursing home. Dr. Smielewski participates in local health fairs, community days, and has been a speaker with the local diabetic support group.
