My wife and I have been to Hard Eight several times over the past year and we always leave satisfied. When ordering you pass right by the smokers and your clothes will end up smelling just like the smoke, so be aware of that if you're not wanting to smell like BBQ all day. The food is great though. I think we've tried most of the meats between our visits, with the exception of the over-priced steaks and ribs. You pay for everything by the pound and like the signs say, your eyes are definitely larger than your stomach. We usually end up with leftovers every time we visit, not that that's a bad thing! The brisket, sausage, pork ribs, and chicken are all really good though, the meat is seasoned just right and is very tender. I truly believe that good BBQ doesn't require sauce and Hard Eight's meat definitely does not. And it's a good thing too, because their sauce is one of the few things I really dislike. It's a strange sweet apple-flavored sauce that reminds me more of a Kansas style BBQ than anything that belongs in Texas. The sides are good too. I really like the potato salad and their beans. My wife was a big fan of their banana pudding too. Be sure to either get there early or wait till after the lunch rush. The parking lot is usually packed by 11:30, but there's always plenty of room inside.

It was a Wednesday night and the place was packed. They have a good selection of BBQ meats to choose from. We got brisket, sausage, and sirloin and it was all delicious. The service was good too. The only minus i would give them is that the sides (ie. Mac & cheese,etc.) were in little cup sizes and it was a bit pricey for that small size. However, they do have a huge pot of beans for free though, that you can serve yourself near the back entrance going into the big dining room.

Went here with a couple of friends - all of us 1st timers. Beware! Everything looks very good! Your tray fills up quicker than you think! The food is great. Didn't have anything that I didn't like. Ribs, spicy sausage, coleslaw, potato salad, Mac and cheese and pecan pie! 👍 Everyone was very friendly and helpful. We got there when they opened - great time IF you can do that early. By the time we left, a good line was getting started.

The food was great. Went on a Saturday during lunch and the rush wasn't that bad. Service was good. The brisket is very tender and delicious. The ribs were equally as good. Only drawback is that it can get pricey because they charge by weight of the food. I ordered brisket and ribs and ended up paying over $20, so be sure to tell the servers exactly how much you want so you can get a variety of items without paying too much. I ended up being served enough food to take home as leftovers. The BBQ sauce served is very good. The atmosphere is very cool. I would recommend this spot to anyone in the area.

One of my favorite places to visit every time I’m in TX. The food is delicious and you control the portions (charge by the pound). Don’t let your eyes fool you. The dining area is big with plenty of seating available. However, the place gets very crowded, especially Friday afternoons and weekends. Huge selection of fixings and drinks. You won’t be disappointed.
