Since moving to Madison years ago Harvest had always been on my list of restaurants I really wanted to try. About 6 months ago we finally made it there on a date night and I was sadly disappointed. Our waitress was very rude. We thought maybe it was because we were younger than most of the crowd in there or that it was because we didn't have more formal attire on, as we were dressed more casual. She continued to service all of her other tables and purposely skipped over us. We sat at the table for 20 minutes before any service. It was also not very busy that night so it was quite obvious. The hostess at the time had taken notice because she actually made a point to get us our drinks and also checked in on us a couple times throughout the dinner after the waitress finally took our appetizer and entree order. Unfortunately, the drinks and food were mediocre. If it wasn't for the hostess, I would've given this experience a 1 star.

I’ve enjoyed both dinner and brunch here, both were fantastic. Harvest has a cute, cozy atmosphere and super tasty food. The cinnamon roll (with ham!) was a great way to kick off brunch and coffee. Definitely recommend visiting.

I have been to many fine dining establishments across the country, and based on the reviews I was expecting Harvest to be another good fine dining experience. I had called ahead to reserve a table for my wife and I’s anniversary. When we arrived, our table wasn't ready, so we were asked to sit at the bar. When we sat down we were told there was no bar tender, so the wait staff was making all the drinks that night. I was a little surprised to see drinks being stirred with fingers, lime being smashed with fingers then the rind dropped into the drink, with no hand washing. We sat there for about 5 minutes before one of the staff acknowledged we were there, and told us someone would be by to take our drink order soon. A few minutes later we were directed to a table (the one closest to the restrooms). One of the staff arrived and asked for our order. We ordered hot tea, scallops, halibut, and beef tenderloin (medium). (Menu and prices were different from what was listed online). When the hot teas arrived, the staff member delivering them spilled about 1/3 of each of the teas on the table while pouring them, didn't even acknowledge he had done it and put the tea pots on top of the spills as if to hide them. For $6 per cup I expected to get to drink more then one cup full, and there was never an offer to bring more hot water or tea. We were given a taste of something from the kitchen, I'm not sure what it was because I couldn't hear the person delivering it. It tasted pretty good, except for a burnt aftertaste. When the scallop appetizer arrived, it was two scallops, and unfortunately, they were rubbery and bland. Our food arrived, my halibut was about the size of two steak fries, there wasn't much else with it. The other things listed on the menu as coming with the entree were just a taste, not a full serving of vegetables, it tasted fine. My wife's tenderloin was not cooked to the medium requested. Instead, it was barely seared with the entire center being cold and raw. It was sent back to the kitchen and again asked to be a medium. It was brought back, along with an apology. Unfortunately, the tenderloin was still barely cooked to a rare (about 3/4 inch of red in the middle). So, it was sent back again. After waiting for about 10 minutes with no one stopping by our table, and wondering what happened to the steak, I finally flagged someone down and asked for our check. We were told that they would let our waiter know. The person who spilled the tea, and hadn't stopped by since, showed up and started cleaning up the table, taking away our flatware, plates, etc. As he was clearing the table I asked him for our check which he went and got. We were not charged for the tenderloin. There was no explanation of what happened to the steak and no apology for my wife not getting her dinner. So, I paid the bill (close to $70) and we left, hungry and thirsty. No one had even offered to get us more water. We had high hopes based on all the reviews and information online. Unfortunately, our experience did not match with those reviews.

I just finished my 4th meal here over the course of several years and I’m perplexed my some of the negative comments. The atmosphere is restrained so if you’re looking to whoop it up, not for you. And yes, the portions are limited so if you need a feed bag experience you’d be best to make another choice. I was served creatively prepared delicious food with attentive but not pushy service. Dining this time by myself I was delighted by the large selection of 1/2 wine bottles and found one that was excellent. Not cheap, but an exceptional meal nonetheless.

Had a wonderful dinner starting with salad greens followed by the roasted chicken. It was a culinary delight. I completed the meal with delicious tangerine -ginger tea. The service was excellent and very attentive.
