We came from Friday through Sunday to celebrate our anniversary, and we could not have chosen a better place to stay. It is right downtown, easily accessible, the staff is accomodating and very friendly, our room was spotless, and for the high-end feel the price wasn't bad either. Vouchers for breakfast were given to us by the hotel for the Haywood Park Cafe, which was delicious. And the valet parking is wonderful due to limited parking! Absolutely amazing!

Hotel was not what I expected out of a four-star hotel. The location was fantastic, we could walk to most of the restaurants and venues we wanted to see on our vacation. Some of the touches were nice, like the turn-down service truffle from Chocolate Fetish, or the breakfast in the atrium next door. My biggest complaints were: 1)When we arrived they wanted to charge me an extra $25-50 per night for my 7yo son who wasn't even going to use a bed. I had booked online through a travel site and this was not part of the reservation (I went back and checked). 2) Parking is apparently $15 a night whether you use vallet or not. This was unclear, as we were pushed into using vallet and thought that was the only option until one morning my husband called the front desk to get the car and they told him no one was available and to get it himself. Another time there was no one available at the front desk to get our key. 3) The hotel has a distinct aesthetic, aside from the lobby which has been renovated, and that aesthetic is 1990s shopping mall. Seriously, the place used to be a department store, and it still kind of feels like you're living in a Belk. Gold and beige everywhere. 4) Because it used to be a department store, the rooms are big and odd shaped and our floor had this huge sitting area with couches and a dining table outside the rooms. It was impossible to use this space without disturbing guests. Our first night, a large family sat essentially outside our room door talking and playing county music over speakers until 11pm. 5) Staff was not overly friendly and there were few amenities I would expect to be rated 4 stars.

Awesome place to stay. Rooms are huge and very very nice. Worth every penny.

Rooms were very spacious and clean. Their breakfast place was fantastic as well. The staff was friendly, but I think they were understaffed because I kept hearing them talking amongst themselves about how it's usually significantly slower but that weekend was particularly busy. They just didn't seem to go above and beyond like I had expected for a higher end boutique hotel.
