Great lake. First time here. Did some fishing and kayaking up the Rio Chama where it flows into the lake. Was so beautiful, only downfall was I lost my favorite rod and reel in the process. The visitor center staff and ranger were very kind and helpful.

Canoeing, kayaking, sailing, pontoon, this is a peaceful and beautiful lake. Never crowded and when the lake is high, the ride down the Willow will keep a smile on your face! The park peeps are super nice and ready to assist in any way! If you're looking for a peaceful place to forget about the world for awhile, you've found it here. (Be sure to UNDERSTAND it's rustic, come with supplies necessary for your stay, there's a pretty good drive if you need something)

Beautiful lake if you want to get away from the city and relax. Campground was empty enough to have privacy and enjoy some relaxation without feeling on top of everyone else. Campsites included a picnic table and bench, plenty of space to plop down a tent, trees for shade, parking spot and campfire area which included an adjustable grill. The ground near the water was infested with stickers though so please take care when taking your pets. I had to pull stickers from dogs feet the whole walk down. If you need drinking water, the camp site leader has a ground spout available for you to take from and bundles of wood were only 5 dollars. Great place overall.

Beautiful park. Several camping sites, from primitive to premium (with hookups and bathrooms). The lake is great for kayaks. On the opposite side of the road from the lake, you can hike down to the Chama River. My kids loved exploring the sides of the Chama.
