This place is run by the most dishonest people I have ever heard of. My husband and his friend took our kids camping last weekend with our dog. They paid extra for a cabin to keep a dog in. Today we received a charge for a missing blanket, a dish towel, and they claimed our dog urinated and defecated all over the cabin. Our trained black lab has never had an accident inside before and this was no exception. Nothing was taken, the dog never used the restroom inside. These people are complete liars and are just looking for a way to make an extra buck off of you. We planned on bringing our other children back for many weekends to come. Never again. Disappointed is an understatement.

We loved this park. We visited and stayed two nights for Christmas in the Harper section near the cemetery. Joel and Robin, the two rangers we met, were very helpful and informative. They have extensive trails and beautiful woods! Loved the boardwalk, the history, and the serenity of this gorgeous park. The bathrooms and showers are basic, but it's camping and still very nice. Highly recommend!

I'm from Alaska, America's wilderness paradise, and I have to say that if you've never been hiking in Alabama, you don't know what you're missing! Blakeley transitions between unique, pristine ecosystems as rapidly as some national parks. One trail will take you down coastal wetland, another through cypress swamp, deep forest, or historic battlefields. Many trails are "rugged," but there are long boardwalks and nice picnic areas for more relaxed trips. Also they offer inexpensive boat tours, and the staff is extremely friendly!

The park itself is beautiful. You can't carry enough blocks and jacks to level your travel trailer. Most of the sites are in bad need of leveling and maintenance. Something also needs to be done about removing permanent residents living in rv's and trailers that are in such bad shape that they can't even be moved. Some look like a junk yard. We have stayed there 3 times, but no more. When you bring these things up to the staff they act like nothing can be done and blame the State. Meaher State Park has a tractor and box blade they can use anytime.
