Came in for my birthday. This was a top 10 meal. Everything was good to excellent. The staff was all super friendly and easy going. They threw out some excellent recommendations. I would have never chosen to get ice cream with soy sauce, but it was incredible. Please PLEASE do not sleep on the turnip cakes. Great atmosphere. Great experience.
Had a great dinner recently at Hop Alley and would absolutely recommend you dining here if you get them chance. All the food was excellent but I really enjoyed the bone marrow fried rice, Beijing duck roll and shrimp dish that is pictured but can’t remember the name. For a great meal, check out Hop Alley soon!
The food was amazing and the service was good too. However, the food was slower to come out than “normal” US service so we had to leave before 1 of the plates was out or we would have been late for a comedy show. They took it off the bill as we told them about the show we had and the time frame. Our reservation was at 8 and the show started at 9:45. I would just give yourself a safe 2 hours if you are going with 2 or more people and to have a reservation. It was 100% full at 8 on a Tuesday. But I would love to go have again and enjoy it without time issues. The staff was amazing and was great at recommending the correct plates and portions for our table.
This place is definitely a hidden gem in Denver! I love Chinese food and often struggle to find good and hygienic places to dine-in. We started with pickled vegetablescomes with side of steamed white rice it has a flavourful tinge to it and goes really well with their chili oil. For entrees, we ordered spicy chicken dish which was a show stopper for me! It is definitely spicy but the taste is amazing and different than the regular saucy chicken dishes. Veg fried rice and noodles were amazing too! Drinks were okish! Would recommended if you love to try something new and are a fan of spicy good food
Love the eclectic vibe almost as much as these refined culinary delights!! Family recipes refined with finesse and flavor!! My favorites: pickled veggies, bejing duck rolls, & bone marrow fried rice. Flavorful and visually stunning cocktails!! Make your reservation and do not miss the wonder of Hop Alley!!
Hop Alley is incredible and 100% deserves the praise/hype you’ve likely heard! The music was a bit loud for us and we loved the service. We had leftovers from our meal of yen tsai, chilled tofu lovely peanut sauce, grilled asparagus so crisp and yum, la zi ji relatively spicy chicken with great flavor and veggie fried rice. We can't wait to go back!
Definitely worth going! We liked it so much that we agreed to come back soon to try other dishes too. They serve everything family style so it’s a good place for a date night or to go with friends. Lamb Buns - these had great taste. Worth a try! Eggplant - I love Asian style eggplant so I really enjoyed this. I would give it an 8/10 compared to other Asian style eggplant dishes I’ve had. Not super spicy either. La Zi Ji fried chicken - you HAVE to get this dish. It is soooo good. It is a bit spicy but the breading is so light and crisp I have no idea how they do it. Noodle dish - tastes like curry and it is huge. Tons of noodles. Our waiter said this was his favorite over the fried rices, and I’m glad we listened to his recommendation.
Finally, a return trip to Hop Alley since visiting first opened in 2015, and they stillll got it! Every dish was good and the La Zi Ji and Beijing duck rolls were exceptional. Never had a boneless laziji before, skeptical at first but it was DYNAMITE! The space has expanded a bit but feels tight, on the verge of cramped. This makes the atmosphere quite loud and bustling, so it’s great for chatty dinner parties. Service was prompt and a true team effort with a nice friendly touch by the manager. Denver had great Chinese food!
The vibe, the food, the staff and the drinks are amazing. I got an old fashioned and it was one of the best I have ever had. The picked plate and the spicy chicken. The chicken is hella spicy but delicious.
This is one of the success stories of modernizing Asian food. I was critical about what Cholon is doing for their attempt at doing something like this. But I'd say this is how to do something like this properly. Absolutely amazing modern Chinese food with flavours that are faithful to the cuisine, we enjoyed all the dishes we ordered. As a fan of izakayas, I really appreciate the open kitchen where we can see chefs and cooks working and plating. The atmosphere is warm and busy, yet comfortable. If you're a fan of Asian food, especially Chinese, this place is a must-try. The quality of food is incredible for the price and I'm pretty sure you'd enjoy it. Some food can be rather spicy from Sichuan peppers but it can be remedied with rice. The area is also lively, you can potentially walk around after your dinner or perhaps stop by at bars. If you're in Denver or visiting Denver, you really should try this place.
