Story

Idyllcreek A-Frame - Walk to Town, Wifi, Secluded, "Spoiled Dogs" Ok

Secluded on an acre at the end of Boulder Drive Idyllcreek -A-Frame Vacation Cabin is a short walk to town. A seasonal stream runs through the property. We invite you to share our family's special retreat.

This original 1960’s A-frame cabin is every bit as charming and serene as it looks. With 1250 square feet, Idyllcreek sleeps 4-6 people (1 California King, 1 Queen and 2 inflatable areo beds). If your group is larger than 6, the cabin next door is a rental as well.

Inside the cabin, you’ll love the wood burning fireplace, fun spiral staircase, and wireless internet (because even a rustic getaway should be convenient). Idyllcreek also features 1.5 baths, and has 2 patios so you can enjoy this beautiful wooded backdrop to the fullest.

Idyllcreek gets is name from Idyllwild, California, which is just a short walk from the cabin, as well as the seasonal stream that runs on the property.

Walk or drive into town and you’ll find that Idyllwild is rich in small-town atmosphere and has something for everyone. Downtown Idyllwild offers excellent dining of all stripes and an assortment of fine shops, boutiques, and galleries—not to mentioning a thriving arts community full of music festivals, art shows, and movie theatre.

If your ideal getaway involves unplugging and getting out into the fresh mountain air, just head “up the hill.” There are plenty of opportunities for activities like hiking and camping, rock climbing and mountain biking, all within close distance of Idyllcreek cabin.

And vacation is, above all else, time to relax. Idyllcreek isn’t just a charming Idyllwild rental cabin on a picturesque, secluded, woodsy lot—it’s also a good 20-30 degrees cooler than the surrounding valleys during summer! Imagine sipping your morning coffee on the patio before you head out seeking fun activities and events. With daylight fading through the trees, enjoy good conversation, tired from a full day of hiking and browsing an art fair. Then settle into this quiet, peaceful cabin for a full night of deep sleep.

With such a great combination of nature’s beauty and peaceful seclusion, plus great outdoor activities and charming small-town discoveries and events, it’s no surprise that Idyllcreek is a favorite of so many, some from California and some from across the country. Idyllwild, California, vacation rentals give families, couples, and friends the chance to get away, relax, and spend some great time together. And Idyllcreek is one of the best.

So if you’re ready to head down to the shaded A-frame cabin at the end of Boulder Drive for a day, weekend, or week of peace, Idyllcreek is ready to welcome you.

I stayed at the A-frame cabin with my boyfriend, our pug, and another couple, and we all had a phenomenal time. The cabin is so charming and unique and its setting in the woods is incredibly relaxing. We very much enjoyed the hot tub and wood-burning fireplace. We were happy to spend most of the weekend relaxing on the deck, but the shops and restaurants in town are a short walk away. Kelly is a very welcoming and communicative host. We can't wait for our next visit!

Gorgeous cabin with attentive hosts. There are some other cabins in somewhat close proximity, but we were fortunate in that it was very quiet and felt secluded during our extended weekend. It's a neat A-frame cabin from the 60s, with lots of personality and cosy decks in the front and back. I can't say enough positive things about the hospitable owners, as they responded promptly to any inquiry and offered everything they could to make our stay as pleasurable as possible. Recommend.

I feel like the "great cabin" review would be putting it too mildly. I'm a single dad of 2 L.A. raised "beach boys" that had never had any cabin time. From the tree swing to the hot tub, Idyllcreek offered plenty to keep a 7 & 9 year old happy while allowing a 50 year old some relaxation. We'll be back!!

In our short trip we had a lot a of fun right around the cabin and the town. It was an easy drive on the 243 to the County Nature Center which had great hiking trails where the kids had a blast scrambling up giant boulders. We brought a cooler full of food but were surprised how well provisioned was the little market in town. They had plentiful organics and grain-fed meats, which is great because the cabin's kitchen and BBQ are super capable. A couple doors down from the market we found one of the best chocolatiers I've ever met. We'll be back. While the giant A-frame is certainly picturesque, I hadn't expected it to be so functional. I had expected a rather cramped second story and was delighted to be wrong. As long as you can navigate a fairly compact spiral staircase you'll find the whole place really accessible. The two boys refused to share a bed so we managed to inflate the air mattress alongside the bed in their bedroom; amazing. The Halbeisen's have paid a lot of attention to detail and it has really paid off in our enjoyment of the cabin; from the surprisingly easy-to-use electronic combo lock on the back door, to the laundry machines downstairs, to the well-written directions, etc. There was a pool cue, lovingly modified with a hook at the end, probably intended for ceiling lights. I used it to fish frisbees and rubber-band powered airplanes out of the brambles. I was very grateful for the pool cue.
