Go for the guided tour. Its well worth it and those women know what they are talking about and will give it a depth and meaning like you may not have expected. Its a small space but packed with important and varied material. The video at the beginning explains a lot if your not familiar with the famine, but its a very moving experience overall.

I love history and I'm part Irish. I love learning about my Father's Family History and hunger in general. I volunteer many hours on a quest to end world hunger. I was hungry as a child. Ta, Ta, Great Place!

Truly astounding place. Not a typical museum. It feels very much alive and makes that terrible history present.
