My first granddaughter and family moved to Washington Heights in Aug 2017. On my visits we go to J.Hood Park. Always fun times with my little sweetheart.

I only been during winter but it is a nice place to walk your dog or do snow angels during a snow storm.

The dog park is just tiny and gravel filled.but the view of the bridge is really pretty

Another great Washington Heights park... This one with a great water feature, awesome playground with replica GWB features, a decent set of lawns and vista overlooking the Hudson River, and decent facilities. My kid loves the swings and sandbox area. This is definitely a diamond in the rough that goes unrecognized and underrated. Much better space than Bennett Park.

As a prime native of this community I can award this park location with a basic "tier of management" recognition. There is a noticeable clean up that has serviced the overall scope of the park. However this is a very congested and active community that requires more consistency and attentive responsibility in safety measures—particularly with children. The playground is lacking in parental supervision and can be risky having younger children play at their free will and feel threatened by older kids sneaking in a bit too aggressively. Back to the appearance of the park... Considering what the park authorities are aware of regarding certain habits some of the habitants share, there should be more care in removing certain items (contraband odds and ends) left for children to be exposed to. People need more awareness of how to behave and exposing their habits in recreational areas that are mostly inhabited by children and elderly.
