I live in Manhattan and love exploring the boroughs. Poe Park was a highly pleasant surprise. Initially, I was just excited to see the residence of Edgar Allen Poe, but I was quickly welcomed in to the lovely community center. Although I arrived late, I was allowed to join a free bottle painting session where I met and made friends with local seniors. There are also activities for kids and a public restroom. Highly recommend !

Poe Park is a spacious place to bring your kids to play. You have Edgar Allen Poe's last home there (now a museum) you can walk in and get a tour of the tiny house for $5 or $3 for kids. If you're an avid ready and a Poe fan, visiting the house will definitely give a better perspective- improved relation to his works.

This is a historical landmark and truly worth a visit. The visiting center offers a number of classes and exhibitions for free, covering a range of interests. The instructors and staff are not always the nicest or the most patient/helpful, but it's free. The farmers market is here on Tuesdays acids the Parks Dept organizes a number of events here.

The playground however, NEEDS WORK. There is 0 shade from the sun; you'll roast sitting on the benches in the playground and the equipment gets hot enough to burn children. There isn't even a sprinkler!
