Today I received the WORST customer service. I was approached by an associate in the children’s department as I was shopping. She was trying to get me to apply for a credit card to get an additional discount- I politely declined. She moved on to a customer near by with the same offer- he also declined. As I reached the register I made sure to get in line on the side of the que with the arrow (a little background- just last week I was in line on the opposite side of the arrow, directly behind a customer at register and was passed over by the cashier because I was on the wrong side). There was a lady who was on the opposite (wrong) side of the que, she was helped first by the same cashier who, a week before, allowed another women to go in front of me. The sales associate who was soliciting credit cards on the sales floor then came up with a women with a arm full of merchandise, she had accepted her offer of applying for a credit card, the associate began to ring her out as I watched from the line. The other cashier and I both looked on in disbelief as she boldly and quite snidely rang the customer up before me. The other cashier finishing up with her customer- called for the next customer (me). There was no apology offered, no mention of my wait. I poliety set down my merchandise and let the cashier know I no longer wanted to make a purchase. I should have gotten their names- but I hope management is able to recognize them from the descriptions below: Sales Associate selling credit cares on the floor: young black women with braids Cashier: older white women Both work in the children’s department on Saturday, May 5 around 10am.

The store is extremely rundown and extremely hot. It is disorganized There are only 3 customer service desks on the main floor. Every lane was booked and customer service is lacking.

So this on, so far will be staying open. I have always been satisfied with most Penneys stuff, especially sheets. Hope the company stays afloat. Will consumers be left with choosing Walmart or Saks only? What about the in between consumer, middle class?

I had a particularly snotty associate in juniors a few weeks ago. Wouldn't even smile at me. She didn't like that she had to go look for a pair of jeans for me and when I was ready to check out, she made another "new" associate ring me up. This associate was so new and the snotty one was even that way with her! A manager walked up to help and Ms. Snotty was all smiles and calling me Hun and baby doll. Cannot stand this behavior.

I shopped at the St. Clair Square location a few weeks ago while visiting my son. There was a pregnant, young woman (management I'm guessing) who helped me and answered all my questions, even though I could tell she was tired and in a bit of pain. Her professionalism and patience most certainly made my decision to return very easy. I went back a few days later and she wasn't there (jokingly - probably in labor 😊), but the staff was just as nice as her. The store selection was great, too! Low prices and everything seemed well organized. -MG
