I live here in Johnson city. Kids liter garbage on five lawns and leave. Called the police for a non-emergency. Front desk insists I call 911. Which I'm not going! Since my life is not endangered and I dont want to tie up the lines. And 911 will tell you. What's your emergency? And I would feel unintelligent saying I don't have one.

Called 3 times to the main number and it just rings and rings and no one ever picks up. That's reassuring....

Had a knife pulled on me downtown during a late night, the cop across the street was too interested in getting the cars over in the farmers market towed to get the guys casually walking away. I work downtown and this was a pretty upsetting moment. Luckily we had other ppl here and no one was stabbed but this was pretty upsetting

I've had decent experiences with JCPD overall. Last time I got caught speeding, he waited to pull me over so I could drop my son off for school first. I thought that was very thoughtful. Didn't like the ticket part, but I was in the wrong. One thing I find incredibly wasteful is that I called today, as I lost my phone. The clerk who answered told me I needed to dial 911. I asked, "Over a lost phone? That hardly seems like an emergency." She said that was the only way to get an officer to my house. I told her I wasn't going to waste tax money calling 911 over a lost phone. Now, on account of this, I'll have to go to the station with my youngest, and hope he behaves long enough to try and retrieve my phone. Calling 911 over a lost phone. I'm still shaking my head over that one...
