The Sevierville Police Department was formed in 1901 by an act of City Council. The City is a Board of Mayor and Aldermen, home rule form of government, wherein the Chief of Police is appointed by the City Administrator. The Police Department currently serves over 15,000 permanent residents and 10-12 million visitors annually. The City limits contain approximately 24 square miles and over 200 miles of roadways.
The Police Department has 58 sworn officers and 14 non-sworn support personnel. The Department is organized into three divisions that work in concert to serve the community:
· The Patrol Division is comprised of three main shifts. Last year, our officers handled over 37,000 calls for service, including more than 2,500 traffic crashes.
· The Criminal Investigation Division is responsible for follow-up and investigation of all crimes that occur in the City.
· The Operational Support Division consists primarily of community police officers, dispatchers, and records personnel.
