Was in town this morning from out of state, and paying more attention to my GPS than the road signs, I found myself speeding through a school zone (not much, just a little over) and quickly found myself being pulled over. Having out of state tags, I thought I was in for a hefty fine. The officer approached my vehicle in a very calm and polite manner, and proceeded to let me know I was speeding in a school zone AND had a brake light out. I already had all my papers ready for him, and the whole stop went smoothly. He was extremely professional and kind. He gave me a warning and didn't even write me a fix it ticket because he didn't want to have to hold me up on my travels, which was exceptionally kind of him. Just goes to show that if you handle the situation like an adult, don't try to lie your way out of it and treat the men and women who are there to protect you and others with a little respect, it goes a long way. I'll have my brake light fixed before I leave town for sure, and am highly impressed with the officer and his interaction with me this morning. I'm considering a move to the area, hence my visit and I will definitely put this on the list of reasons to move! Never been so happy after a traffic stop in my life. Way to be super awesome and understanding Kingsport PD!

Pulled over for speeding when literally every car was going faster than me. Must be out of state plates? Strongly considering moving to JC.

Just got harassed by the fourth cop in a month here just sitting in my car. I wasn't doing anything, blocking any traffic, causing any scene, doing anything illegal and they shine the light all in my face and asking for id. Why? He talking about he doing his job, but I'm not doing anything wrong. Last time I checked, Walmart stays open 24 hours and the cop asked me , what I'm doing at Walmart this time of night. It's 2am, im about to go shopping. I'm texting and checking my Facebook .he was like, we got your tag and your license;. If there's a wreck and it's your tag, we know it was you. Asking me all these questions and stuff. I AM NOT DOING ANYTHING! Just sitting here. All four times it was the same reason why the messed with me;. For sitting in my car! What the hell man?

I've called them twice and not 1 time did they ever show up what's the point of calling them if they won't bother to do there jobs to help you

Fast response, thank you ---so much! I was speaking to my daughter (I'm posting on the computer where my son is signed in bty) on her free Obama phone and it went dead, right in the middle of the most important phone conversation ever! Her children heard a noise, on a Sunday, no one else around. Perfect time for something to happen. I don't believe in things being just a coincidence, I feared for her life. So I called and they dispatched two officers, she was found safe and unharmed thank goodness! The deputy called me right away to assure me she was safe. Don't hesitate to make wellness calls, do so right away, things could have easily been different in this instance. And the Kingsport police did their job and did it very well. Again Thank You Very Much!
