Your Last Stop For The Best Collectibles On The Planet!!
The Story & History behind Joys & Toys, the Last Stop For the Best Collectibles on the Planet!
It started over 29 years ago when Mr. Jon Morrissette met and fell in love with Marsha Goodwin, they both realized that they had a passion for vintage collectible toys, Marsha loving the Dolls, Barbie & Glass & Jon with Records, Tin Toys and Popeye collectibles. They decided to open a small shop on the outskirts of Hatboro, PA and within 2 years out grew out of the space and found their permanent home at 53 S. York Road, Right in the heart of Hatboro. That was 26 years ago.
Unfortunately, tragedy stuck and Marsha died suddenly in 2006, leaving not only Jon but Marsha’s two Children, Michelle & Steven. Jon was devastated and not even sure if he could go on at the shop with all the precious memories that Jon held dear to him and to Marsha. After mourning his common law wife with Marsha’s children, he realized he wanted to keep Marsha’s memory alive and to keep the store going. Michelle jumped right away at the chance to help anyway she could even with her full time job elsewhere and volunteered to help every Sunday to help keep the store open.
I myself, Karen Nicolo, was hired 8 years ago to help Jon keep the doors open and lights on during the week and started helping Jon not just with keeping the store open, but to continue as well with Joys & Toys EBay Sales.
As of today, Jon & Joys & Toys has been in the same location for over 26 years! One of the few staples in Hatboro that continues to run. We do business with other collector enthusiast as well and we are continuously growing and meeting new and fascinating people. Jon Still buys and sells collectibles and we are chock for of fun collectibles for anyone’s interest. We have lots of regular customers and customers from the tri-state area and even worldwide. We have international customers that mark a day on their calendar to be sure to come to the shop when they are in town.
We are a small business in a small town and love being in the heart of Hatboro. Even better is that the history of the land we share with our fellow shop neighbors, Our land is said to be the land where the 3rd library of the 13 colonies was first established, It is said that later it became a local pub and that George Washington and his troops would sometimes stop in on their trails to New Jersey & Philadelphia. It also the one of the land marks for the Battle of Crooked Bullet with a plaque on our outside wall as well. Of course over the years the piece of land we share has become what it is today, with a local Bakery, who has been there over 20 years and Winships clock shop, which is now in charge of restoring the Lukens clock at the Hatboro Boro Hall and was built back in 1812. So being a part of Hatboro is also being a part of its history.
