The Jupiter Hotel presides over Portland, Oregon's vibrant Lower Burnside neighborhood, inviting independent travelers to indulge in urban life. The Jupiter is where cultural creatives, modern nomads and anyone who thinks outside the box finds a home in Portland - an affordable, independent, unique home. The Jupiter Hotel has all the amenities a modern traveler needs, a variety of room options, and versatile event spaces that are regularly utilized by the city's creative minds and cutting-edge corporations.

The Jupiter’s remodeled lobby features a custom designed art gallery, exposing all guests to emerging artists and encourages emerging collectors. Acting as a community incubator and featuring art installations, openings are on the first Friday of every month. Hotel guests, tourists and locals alike are welcome to tour the gallery 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. Adjacent to the hotel is the Doug Fir Lounge, a renowned indie rock club with live music almost every day of the year, and its popular restaurant with local, sustainable and delicious food from 7 AM to late night.

Guest Rooms

The Jupiter Hotel offers 81 modern guest rooms, recently renovated and boasting custom-designed desks and headboards by Portland designers Colin Fjeld and Ken Tomita. With pillow top beds, goose down comforters, chandeliers, chalkboard doors inside and out, hand painted wall murals and 32-inch flat screen televisions, each room includes a copy of The Four Agreements, free wifi access and MP3/iPod compatible speakers. The DreamSUITE is a 500-square foot, one-bedroom suite furnished with a wet bar, two plasma televisions, queen bed and bamboo floors. The suite is just the right size for exclusive, private events of 5 - 15 people.

In February 2012, the Jupiter Hotel opened their completely remodeled and custom designed lobby as a 700-square foot gallery space. The design incorporated wood and metal elements already existing on the property, pulling through a Pacific Northwest aesthetic while creating a minimalist feel that highlights the artwork. Providing a unique and constantly evolving experience, the Gallery at the Jupiter features new artist installations monthly. Hotel guests, tourists and Portland locals alike are welcome to tour the gallery 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.

Community

The tented courtyard is available to rent for private parties and is often the scene of creative events – from DJ dance sessions to speakeasy’s and alternative wedding receptions.

Dining

On the property is the Doug Fir Restaurant and Lounge which offers classic Northwest fare from 7:00 AM to late night. Designed by architect Jeff Kovel of Skylab Design, the Doug Fir Lounge offers cutting edge music nightly, and is a Northwest destination for the best in musical acts.

Creative Meeting Spaces: DreamBOX and ThinkTANK

The Jupiter offers two private meeting rooms large enough for groups of 75 or easily transformed into intimate spaces for five. The DreamBOX has bamboo floors, mirrored ceilings, built in sound system and LCD projector, wrap around windows and a floor to ceiling blackboard to help illuminate the creative process. The perfect site for events as diverse as photo shoots, art exhibits, record release parties and business meetings. Adjacent to the DreamBOX is the ThinkTANK, a 437-square foot, fully equipped AV meeting room just off the courtyard with more intimate space for brainstorm sessions and creative off-site meetings.

Check-in was easy, the rooms are well-decorated and clean. The temperature of the room was a bit chilly in the winter months if you're just hanging out in your room, but the bed was soft and the blankets were warm. The water was hot and the shower water pressure was great. Staff was friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this hotel, especially if you are attending a concert at the Doug Fir Lounge next door and need a place to stay. The only negative was that, as an older hotel, the walls are thin, and some people are less considerate about this. This was not a reflection on the hotel, but other guests. I would stay here again, no question.

Wonderful. The staff was very helpful. You can tell that management has faith in their employees as the employees move through their job w confidence. They were fun and I liked that they felt comfortable enough to joke around. Jupiter hotel, please continue to believe and encourage your employees to be themselves. Guests can tell when employee are taken care of as it definitely showed in our stay. You’ve got some amazing ones and I hope they stay around for my return. The picture of the sloth was the best. Thank you so much!

Condoms and ear plugs? Wow! What hotel provides that?! If you’re a millennial, this hotel is targeting your demographic; even though it has a 60s to 70s feel. The beer package honestly isn’t worth what you pay but oh well. The neighborhood is awesome and super walkable (plenty of breweries, restaurants, and roasteries)

Ya'll are still the kings of rock and roll. Super staff, wonderful vibe (i love the ambient music you play in the patio tent area even when its cold outside). Housekeeping people very sweet and accommodating and the rooms always in great shape. I know the Doug Fir is a separate business but i gotta state we were bummed about the dinner menu being changed to something not so unique as it used to be. Missing the steak big time. We'll def be back as we have extended family in Portland and the city is just so weird we can't stay away. Well done.

We had a great time as always. Just a super fun hotel and really easy to get everywhere from the location. We did have an incident with the rain where the pipes set back up barf (or what looked like barf) into our shower. But the Gal at the front desk was really apologetic and resolved the issue very quickly by moving us to a different room. I was very thankful she quickly provided this solution and made the rest of our stay enjoyable. When checking out, she provided notes so the guy at the front was able to help us as well. He gave us complimentary parking that really help resolve the situation as well. All in all we would come back for sure. Great customer service and quick resolutions.
