Overall, I really like this LA fitness/the other LA fitness gyms that I have visited. This particular location is pretty nice. They have a really good amount of equipment, in fact, I just saw some new equipment pop up recently. The Free weights are pretty good, they have a decent variety of specialty equipment like: TRX, endless ropes (one set, but not something you see everywhere), battle ropes, kettle bells, etc, cardio equipment is plentiful, and their machines are plentiful as well. My only knock on this gym equipment wise is: why do they only have one non-smith machine squat rack?? Come on, guys! The Amenities are pretty good. I love the sauna most of all. I haven't tried the pool or racquetball yet. Cleanliness you ask? For as big of a place and as many people that come through it, they seem to keep it pretty clean. I'm not saying it is perfect, but, it isn't terrible. Personally I'd like to see them make their week-end hours better. That is when a lot of people like myself like to get a bulk of their training in. So again, overall, I think that LA Fitness is a good gym chain, and the Polaris location is probably one of the better locations.

Nice gym, but too much pressure to get a membership. Felt like a freaking car dealership.

Oh LAF Westerville…oh you… Where to begin? You’ll appreciate the need for more cleaning crew and fewer sales people the moment you walk in the door. The place smells like a sewer. The locker rooms (the mens at least…I can only assume the womens are similar) are routinely littered with paper towels, discarded water bottles and the occasional feces-smeared hand print (which resided proudly above the dry sauna for better than two weeks in March 2017 before someone took pity and cleaned it off). The bathrooms consistently reek of urine and worse, the sinks are as likely as not to be out of soap and in need of a good scrubbing, the shower stalls contain what appears to be handsoap (perhaps taken from the sinks?) in place of bodywash. Once in the gym, the 2nd floor (where the free weights and nautilus equipment reside) looks to have never before seen a vacuum with dust bunnies the size of toddlers residing at the base of much of the equipment, and garbage cans which routinely overflow with more used paper towels on the weekends when it would appear the cleaning crew has time off. The 2nd floor restroom is a horror show – presently in disrepair with the sink fixture having been torn off and typically in need of a bleach spritzer from top to bottom. The equipment itself is passable, if not grungy and in dire need of a washing. The ‘Hoist’ line of nautilus equipment is decent quality, having replaced (but not displaced) the legacy nautilus gear. The Hammer Strength equipment is a bit dated & again in need of some anti-bacterial loving and a good dust mop, but respectable. The leg training equipment is a bit worn and grungy, but with three leg presses and a hack squat along with a single squat rack one can get a respectable lower body workout provided you take the time to clean your gear before & after training on it. Dumbbells go up to 100 Lbs and there are multiple benches so normally you don’t have to wait to get your upper body workout done. The clientele…well, imagine if WalMart were a gym and you’re on the right track. The primary demographic seems to be creepy old dudes who prefer to use the Nautilus equipment as furniture while they socialize & who seemingly can’t wait to take their pants off and prance around the locker room. Note to all creepy old dudes: the dry sauna is not your personal Turkish Bath. Wear a god damned towel. No one wants to see that. NO ONE. The staff? Aside from the sporadic ‘Hey, how ya doing’ when checking-in, they simply seem to give zero f#cks. Seriously. The cleaning issues have been mentioned on multiple occasions and are typically met with all the enthusiasm one might expect of a minimum wage employee & the results show it. There’s no sense of pride in this club – which I believe has to stem from the same type of apathy at the management level. Hell, even Planet Fitness does a FAR better job keeping their club in shape and they’re open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week (which reminds me - why again does the Westerville LAF not open until 0900 on Sundays? Are there that many church-going gym members?) In summary, LAF Westerville is not going to ‘Wow’ you with the member experience. Its reasonably cheap and conveniently located and if you’re willing to lower your standards of cleanliness and overlook the smell & the bottomless oldsters hanging out in the lockers you can still get a decent workout.

You simply can't go to ask some information, without being FORCED to get their membership. We were told that the discounted rates were given only on the day we came and if we decide and come back, the rates would not apply. We even agreed that it would be okay if the discounted rates were not given, because we needed time to decide between LA Fitness and another place. He kept pushing and forcing us asking why we would miss this opportunity. Idk why they would even push us when we are okay in not paying the discounted rate! We were so pressurized and forced, maybe they should start giving people the freedom to think. PS: This would not let me submit without selecting a star, when actually, they deserve no stars!
