Had a terrific time fooling around the lake in the canoe. The water was up and the fishing was a little challenging today. :-) The lake was peaceful and there was all types of birds and critters to see. Very easy access, I saw no charge for day use. Great place for a day out.

Very beautiful cabin, several trails to walk along, extremely friendly staff. The kitchen is fully equipped, but you'll need to bring everything food-wise, including salt. During the winter, they will provide some fire wood. It might be one bundle/day you stay. Additional fire wood can be purchased for around $4-$5 a bundle. The cabins also have satellite TV, an iron and ironing board, towels, linens, deck, and grill. The visitor's center had charcoal for sale along with a couple of food items (like ketchup or mustard), some medicine, and souvenirs. The trails are extremely long, and hunting is allowed along one of them, so if you plan to hike the whole thing, bring an orange vest. I will warn you, most people have zero cell service at the park. AT&T seemed to be the only one that worked. Also, the nearest Walmart is about half an hour away in Alma, so don't be like me and think, "I'll just go to the store after I get there so I can see what I need." Regardless, I enjoyed my stay. It's a nice place for a day trip or an overnight stay.

Pretty. You can't swim in the lake but they do have a pool for summer use. And campgrounds. I would think maybe good for boat use.

We are enjoying our stay it is over the Christmas holidays so things are very slow here out of possible 30 spaces only 10 are occupied . They are having a Christmas party at the visitor center on Christmas Eve. The sites are all level look like they been upgraded and very nice. The restrooms are clean and well taken care of. Overall a very enjoyable stay at this state park

Taps for clean potable water, parking, a cute visitor centre with exhibits and theme depicting life of early settlers 200 years ago; clean restrooms, and nice trails! Also of course the lake itself. Great place. Please go off road via Shepherd Springs Road! Also car-fiendly drive into the woods. Totally worth it! I loved the fall foliage.
