Way more beautiful and spacious than I expected to see. I hope to be able to come back here again sometime soon. Some local eagle scouts we're building a couple of bridges. I guess because the creek is so active and the paths we're becoming obscured. The paths following the creek are large and spacious and mostly dirt. If you're going to bring a bike here, you might at least want a hybrid bike to take on some of the terrain. It seems it would be much better if you use a mountain bike in this situation though, there are some rough areas where it could become fun/useful. I didn't see a ton of water fountains, so if you plan on being out here for a while, I'd bring some water. Also, don't make the mistake I did and wear long pants if it's above 55-60, you will sweat.

Beautiful lake with boating options. Walkway bridge gives you a great view of the lake. Walking trial is well maintained with paved paths. It is difficult to get parking over the weekends.

Love the walking/biking trails around Lake Johnson. Especially love the unpaved trail. If you are into sailing, they have a nice fleet of sunfish available, I think from Memorial Day to Labor Day. A gem of a place in the middle of the hustle and bustle of I40 and Raleigh downtown.

It's a great park for a few more walk or run! The trails, both paved and unpaved are well maintained and the lake is a nice natural seclusion from the city. I come here with my dogs and enjoy the peaceful getaway.

Great place for outdoor exercise - run, walk or bike the east loop. The east loop is hilly to the right of the visitor center, less hills and incline to the left of visitor center. The west loop is better for trail blazing and outdoor adventures. Secluded from the highway, yet very convenient to Raleigh, Cary and Apex.
