Though parts of the park we're closed for renovations, the walking trails are open and enjoyable. The trails are well maintained and leisurely to walk on. The visitor center staff is friendly and knowledgeable. A great place for a relaxing walk or run. The longest trail is just over a mile.

State Park with great potential. Decent scenery, good trails for a run or walk. Mostly forest with old house and lake. NC State Rangers based on site (nice for added security). Great place for historical look at buildings and structures that are ¾ century old!

We stopped here for a walk on a nice February afternoon. The walk is pleasant, though the lake is currently not a lake because the dam was breached by a hurricane in 2016 and hasn't yet been repaired.

Beautiful pine and cypress forrests but the trails and structures were collapsed and unkept.

Rangers are very knowledgeable about the history of the place. Longleaf pines dating back over 300 years ago and some with red cockaded woodpeckers and slash marks from the old turpentine industry.
