The Lake McDonald Lodge is a beautiful Swiss alpine styled chalet, hostel and hotel. This beautiful lakefront lodge is located above the shores of the pristine Lake McDonald, known for its crystal clear waters and  brilliantly colored stones. The lodge offers a number of accommodations including dorm styled hostels to luxury suites. The lodge is conveniently located within Glacier National Park.  Within the lodge you'll find a number of gift shops, both casual and fine dining, and a host of professionally led activities. Actives include horseback riding,  lake boat tours and famed red bus coach rides that allow visitors experience the Going-to-the-Sun-Road  (without personally having to navigate this challenging, narrow and high elevation road.) a must see for any one visiting Glacier National Park.

Lake McDonald Lodge is on the western side of Glacier National Park.
Great views, trails, rooms, and people. 
Managed by Xanterra Parks and Rec it's for Glacier National Park Inc.
Open from May to Sept. yearly. Book reservations online well ahead of stay!!!
Parking can be tricky. Take cold weather gear all year round!
If hiking, even a little, check with front desk and take Bear Spray with you into the forest at All times!

Loved staying here! The cabins are absolutely perfect. They are a little small, and a little rustic ( you'll see some spiders and other bugs, but nothing bad at all!) They setting is amazing it's beautiful to be right on the waters edge. It's literally perfect.

Wow what a beautiful place very rustic actual real wood Timbers inside the beautiful lobby with a rustic huge fireplace. I did not stay here so I can't comment on the rooms. The staff I talk to about the history of the place we're very helpful in every way. The staff in the restaurant we're all so wonderful very welcoming and very concerned about my having a good meal. The grounds around the building are naturally spectacular. Mother Nature did not let us down on this one. This whole park is packed though make sure you reserve whatever you want to do otherwise you might not get to do it. Or come when it's snowing! Plenty of transportation to hikers and bicyclists are definitely welcome

Overpriced? Probably a little, but hey, it's in a national park. My wife and I had dinner for our anniversary and loved it. The deviled eggs appetizer was worth skipping, but the tofu entree and elk burger were exceptional. Beautiful little rustic lodge setting which was quite charming. Our service was prompt and accurate. We we're fortunate enough to be seated next to a window near a stream. It was a lovely evening and I would highly recommend it for anyone looking for a romantic evening.
