Story

Welcome to Lakeside Café – our very own little piece of paradise…

Our mission at Lakeside Cafe is to be at the forefront of promoting a healthy lifestyle. Offering only organically grown fruits and vegetables and sourcing most of our ingredients from local producers, guaranteeing everything is fresh from farm to plate. We provide delicious menu offerings made in-house to appease any palate.

The restaurant itself was established to complement (essentially becoming a part of the Los Encinos Historic State Park) the beautiful tree-lined meadows, a mid-19th century multi-family dwelling and adobe all centered around a serene duck pond.

Lakeside Café has been built as a mid-19thcentury home, thereby offering seating in a variety of different settings and atmospheres within the restaurant or on the park grounds; reminiscent of New York’s Tavern on the Green in the heart of Central Park. Regardless of where you sit, Lakeside Café always offers serene ambiance, majestic views and a true escape for both body and soul, all while offering delectable cuisine.

They have a great happy hour! I took my dog on a "date" here and we had the best time. The small bites were delicious and the whiskey and coke I had was strong. They are very dog friendly as well! My dog and I sat in the patio area. He was a little dirty at the end but I didn't mind. They even brought him out a water bowl.

In the midst of Los Angeles congestion, at the south edge of the San Fernando Valley, just off Ventura Boulevard, is a waterhole that has served life for eons. Los Encinos State Historic Park is the home of the Lakeside Restaurant & Lounge. Here, you can enjoy a meal while viewing water birds under the shade of a well established pocket forest. Or, you can dine inside in air conditioned comfort and view nature through large glass windows. Across the pond stands a century old, exquisitely maintained adobe building, part of the free museum complex, which is open 10a to 5p, Wednesday through Sunday. So enjoy lunch then take a constitutional and immerse yourself in San Fernando Valley history. You are walking on land that once was the home of mammoths and saber-tooth tigers. This is a beef, chicken and fish eatery with just a few vegan options. Service is provided by knowledgeable and friendly servers. The chef prepared an off-menu vegan primavera with my choice of vegetables. It was delicious. A French bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar was provided to the table. The garden eating area is smooth but has been left natural. At night the lighting is romantic. There is a well stocked, professionally staffed bar. The parking lot, which is kind of hidden on the east side of the restaurant, is wheelchair accessible, as are the bathrooms and the rest of the restaurant.

I love coming to Lakeside - the food is great and has a wide outdoor seating area, as well as designated area for parties and gatherings. Everything I have tried from their menu has always been very well prepared and presented. The bar also offers a very ample selection of alcoholic beverages and the wine list is great.

Amazing experience and beautiful place! They actually don't have any vegan menu items but to my surprise the manager and chef came out with a homemade vegan veggie burger that was DELICIOUS! Great service too....will be back!

I came here 3 years ago for brunch while running errands in the valley. I would have never expected it to be what is was when I walked in the door. You walk into a beautiful indoor/outdoor restaurant right on the lake which is in the park. The scenery is beautiful, the food is really good and the service is great. This is a must if you find yourself in the area!
