I wish I could give less than 1 star because they do not deserve the 1 star minimum. This organization does their best to steal money from their customers in every way possible. Please use another company if you can.

If I could give negative stars, I would. The most awful, money-sucking people ever. I've been bullied by their property management company for months. Of course it's not only their fault, it's the owner of the property that I rent. Here's my story. I have lived at this property for a year and two months. Paid my rent the first of every month via their automated service so it's never missed a beat. NEVER ONCE filed a complaint until a flood happened in my basement. The owner didn't have flood insurance so the hefty repairs was to come out of their pocket. Not to mention the THREE FEET of black mold that was found in the basement which had been growing for a very long time that Long and Foster failed to notice during the walkthrough of the property when I signed the lease. A month and a half later, I still don't have access to my basement which one-half has been stripped bare to the studs. Then as luck would have it, I had a small fire. I called my renters insurance immediately followed by a call to Long and Foster within the hour because I wanted to do everything I needed to do above reproach. My renter's insurance (Nationwide and they are awesome) did everything already. AND the owners of my house received a lump sum from their home-owners' insurance to repair the place. All that is standing in the way of me getting home is for them to approve the estimate for new floors in the kitchen and a paint job. Okay, so yesterday I get a letter from Long and Foster (no call, no email, no discussion) citing a termination of my lease because the place is "uninhabitable" AND I am to pay for all the repairs to the house. This is AFTER Liberty Mutual paid my landlord the money to fix it and the place had already been cleaned!!! I called Long and Foster asking them to do the RIGHT thing and this is what they told me: well, you're not our client. The person paying us is the owner of the house so we are not going to advocate for you. They will not stand on the side of right in a case where the tenet is CLEARLY being bullied. Instead they try to sneak one by you to get to you sign termination papers with terms that are not only untruth but also unfair. You guys are awful. Just awful.

We signed a lease agreement with this company and provided a deposit. They cashed the deposit, but never signed the lease and then informed us that the house would not be available until a later date. We tried to negotiate, but could not reach an agreement so we found another place. We have asked Long and Foster multiple times to return our money, and they won't do it. I highly recommend you use a different company for your real estate needs.

Very displeased with L&F as a tenant. Our property was previously managed by Key Property Management- who was excellent. I can never get a hold of anyone at L&F, calls and emails go unanswered. We will be looking for a new residence as soon as we can because of their poor customer service. Our property owners will be notified and when we decide to become property owners, we will steer clear of L&F.

My wife and I have been using Long & Foster for the last 4 years, for our rented condo in Grosvenor. Over that time, we have had a bunch of issues, which have been fixed to varying degrees. What really sets them apart is their responsiveness. They aren't super-proactive about reaching out, but when we tell them there's an issue they fix it right away. And they call you, rather than just emailing, which is really helpful. It's nice knowing there's a person at the other end of the line who cares about your place of living on your behalf. It took them only a day to get someone out to replace some old parts in our toilet which was breaking weekly (the plumber was Danny Miller and he did an awesome job).
