I have been going here to get my hair cut for quite awhile. A girlfriend of mine had told me about it. She always makes an appointment with Jocelyn. I always just walk in and Jocelyn is always busy. Finally about 5 weeks ago I made an appointment with Jocelyn and I'm so happy that I did. I had long hair and I wanted something different. My hair is really fine. Jocelyn cut it above my shoulders and layered it. I just love it. It looks so much thicker. I finally found someone to cut my hair that I love! I know now that I just have to make an appointment if I want Jocelyn! I love her!

I tried out the Chouteau Trafficway location in Kansas City, MO and had a very bad experience with the manager there, Jocelyn. I went in for a cut and color consultation and ended up with a cut + color. There were a number of contributions to my bad review -she decided to wash my hair to clarify it before coloring so it would “absorb the color better”, which I have never heard of before (unwashed hair is not a problem for color or highlights, and is usually preferred from my experience) This added over 40 min to my time in the salon -she had no true concept of what she was talking about consulting me on color, I felt like I was leading her through the palette and not being consulted on it from a professional. My hair turned out bright unnatural orange at my grown-out roots and the rest of the shaft stayed my same darker color red as before. I tried to tell her you cannot lighten color with color but she didn’t seem to understand this concept. What I wanted was to fix my dark roots and perhaps get highlights to lighten my overall color but she did not seem to have enough knowledge to accomplish this. -while applying my color, after my head was saturated and finished she decided to slop the leftover color all over where it might be held, because “might as well use all of it.” In my experience this is ill-advised. -while washing the color out of my hair, she tried/asked to condition it twice, which seemed unnecessary. I had already been there 2 hours and told her not to. -she started cutting my hair without asking where my part was; I cannot stress enough how frustrating this is for any customer who parts their straight hair the same every day. - when I told her I like thinning shears used on my lower layers, which is commonplace for my very thick hair, she couldn’t seem to grasp why and didn’t seem to feel comfortable wielding them. -when we talked about what I wanted to do with the cut and I told her I was growing it out, she said that was probably a good idea because hair as thick as mine doesn’t lay well/look good short. I have had a short bob for years and this comment seemed ignorant and unprofessional. -after over 2.5 hours when she still wasn’t finished I stopped her in the middle of styling/drying, paid, tipped and left. The next day I called and asked for a refund for the color because it looked so poorly done and she said that wouldn’t be a problem. A week later the refund had not appeared in my account and I called again; another woman who answered said I had to come INTO the store to fill something out to get my refund – Jocelyn had not told me this when I called the first time! -when I went in to finally get my money back, it took over 15 minutes for one employee and one manager (Jocelyn) to be able to give me my refund... she’s the manager! I feel bad writing this because she was so nice but I don't want anyone else to go through the time wasted and frustration I felt.

I made an appointment for a cut and color and the person who took the appointment was very positive and accommodating. The appointment was made for 530 pm, which if told I could have come in earlier. Once there and waiting 30 minutes I was told that they don't take cuts and colors after 5pm, because they close at 9pm. I never had a cut and color that took four hours. Needless to say I did not receive the service I made the appointment for. Had I been told this when I made the appointment I could have called another salon, and why did they make the appointment in the first place. I truly believe they just didn't want to do the work, since there was no one else waiting. I did call Beauty Brands and got an appointment for the following day at 6:15pm, they too close at 9pm. Another time when waiting for a cut at Look After Hair Co, the stylist were complaining about customers walking in for service even though there is a sign outside the door stating "Walk-ins Welcome".

I love the new stylists at Look After Hair. Jocelyn asked questions, made recommendations, and nailed my new do! Thank you, Jocelyn! I will definitely be going back.
