Story

As a San Antonio staple since 1979, Los Barrios Mexican Restaurant is known for a couple of things throughout our community. We’re known for our mouthwatering Tex-Mex dishes and beautiful patio dining experience. Most of all, though, we’re known for being a place for family. Our welcoming environment and fresh, home-style cuisine make us the perfect spot to bring your family. Everyone will enjoy our live music and attentive service.

Staff was great. 11:30 on a Monday and no wait. I had the chili relleno. Not the best but good enough I ate it all. The mother-in-law said the same of her eaten enchilada. The house margarita was great. Parking looks dismal from the front but just around the back was plenty. I will return to try the puffy taco. They looked superb.

Me and the family enjoyed it. We were looking for a nice place to eat for dinner near by. Loved the atmosphere and the food was pretty good. While the waitress was super nice, I felt like she didnt check up on us as much (we were a table of 9). It's not a huge deal (im not one to complain) but it would have been nice to get refills a little quicker. Overall it was good, I'd recommend you give it a try!

Food was okay, it’s edible. Service was awful. Hostess was very young and she couldn’t figure out how to show us to our  table, once we found our own seats , she forgot to tell a server there was a table outdoors. I had to get up and find a server to come take our order.  Orders in, 10 min later we finally get our drinks. Sweet tea tasted like water and sprite like seltzer water.  Another 10 min go by before the server  is seen again. She then sends someone out to bring us new drinks, not much difference on the tea. Asked her to bring some lime, never got it, she couldn’t even give us more than 1 napkin. Service, professionalism and mannerism needs tons of improvement.

A good unique to San Antonio Mexican food experience. Clean, good service, not too fancy, probably 95% local customers. A great alternative to the chains and tourist joints elsewhere. I rate it four star because there are other places whose food I like better, but Los Barrios is consistent quality and product - you can order what you ordered before and expect the same dish, which is not always the case with other restaurants. Good chips and salsa, pretty good margaritas, a nice range of dishes with plenty to satisfy a vegetarian if you're avoiding meat. I eat here at least once a month or so with former office friends.

First Rate food and service.  All the Los Barrio restaurants are fantastic!  The original has gotten a nice facelift since we had been here and it is beautiful.  The food was amazing!  I really think they must have tortilla angels in the kitchen because the flour tortilla are like heavenly clouds...so soft and taste heavenly.  No matter what we order it is always some of the best.  My husband couldn't help but comment on how extra  good their rice was.  Los Barrios never disappoints, we are always happy when we have visited.  We need to go back very soon for the Cabrito, yum!
