We camped at a great spot down by the river. It was very quiet. The only drawback is that there are no shower facilities.

My visit to Lumber River was k my a few weeks after Hurricane Mathew, and the park was still recovering, however, we really enjoyed our stay. The primitive camp sites are well groomed and there is a pit toiled and water available about 100 yards, at the max, from most sites. The paths along the river are clear and accessible, and offer a great view of the parks wildlife. A real abundance of birds, deer, and other wee woodland critters. Great for bird watchers. What I was most impressed with was the staff. They have been working tirelessly to get the park back in order, and you can tell they truly love the land they work. Some for as long as 37 years. Thanks for a great experience and we'll see next time.

Very peaceful place. We camped overnight, enjoyed the owls, and a cozy campfire. Water spigot near camp area was not working, but park staff told us they were trying to fix it. Another water spigot worked fine, just farther away. Nice trail by the river.
