Working on getting the stamps for the state parks in NC and came here for the stamp and a hike. This place looks great for cabin camping and the lake is beautiful. Not much hiking but looks like they have plenty of outdoor activities during the summer.

My family had a very pleasant day here. We had called the office the day before, to make sure the camp wasn't in use, and it wasn't, so we had the place pretty much to ourselves. The day was pretty cold and windy, especially at the lake, but the trails were very nice.

I have been coming with a church group program for over 16 years now and this place has always had a special meaning to me. The lake is great. The part offers the right amount of amenities. Canoes, life vest, dock, and very interesting facts about wildlife and nature. Camp Ipecac is where we have our large group (holds 96). The cabins/mess hall are/is old, part of FDR new deal if I do remember correctly (built in the 30s). but always making repairs as needed. Staff is friendly and helpful for the surrounding areas.

This is a great place for a week end retreat, a day off to walk or just a place to get away.
