Story

DIRECTIONS:
I-64 east to West Point exit 220. Go through West Point ’til you reach Route 17. Turn left (north) on 17 and veer right in Saluda on Route 33. Left on Route 3 and veer right across from airfield in front of Eckhard’s restaurant. Marina at end of the road. (Do not turn on Mason's Cove as indicated via GPS, turn on Locklies Creek Road in front of Eckhard's restaurant instead).

Excellent food. It's quite clear from descriptions and the sign you walk under ("a tasting place"...not a restaurant!) that portions are small...great for pairing with adult beverages! Not sure why people are griping about portion size. Busy when we arrived in the rain, but we were served relatively quickly. The food was superb.

We had an excellent lunch- it was not cheap but we had 2 dozen oysters, crab cake, steamed shrimp and key lime pie. Everything was wonderful and the view of the river is beautiful. We will definitely be going back.

Bad food, we will never eat there again. On 10-13-17 we looked forward to finally having a good seafood lunch at this restaurant since it had pretty good reviews. We ordered the wahoo with broccoli and squash covered in a red pepper sauce. The wahoo was undercooked, the squash consisted of one little slice cut in half, the broccoli was hard and the red pepper sauce was very very bitter. We paid our overpriced bill and left. We expected a nice lunch with nice veggies and a good fish dinner. What we received was a partially raw piece of fish and something very wrong with the pepper sauce?

This place is a gem. It's off the beaten path but well worth the trip. We had raw oysters, roasted oysters and some ceviche that was delicious. The view on the water is outstanding and the atmosphere is friendly and fun. The crew out there was exceptional and made our visit an evening to remember.

Merroir is self-described as a tasting room which I originally thought was a curious notion; however, that is exactly what we enjoy doing there tasting delicious fresh seafood, small plate dishes, and great wine! The chef is amazing-- one one visit we delighted in a cold watermelon/radish soup. On a beautiful day, there is no place better to be. At midday there is limited shade.
