We offer the latest diagnostic and treatment services, and our highly qualified Chest Pain Team is available 24 hours a day to evaluate and relieve chest pain quickly.
When it comes to diagnosing and stopping a heart attack, the Methodist Hospital Chest Pain Team is one of the best in the country.
Methodist Hospital is a dedicated STEMI receiving center approved by the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services’ Emergency Medical Services Agency. When paramedics identify patients as having an acute cardiac myocardial infarction (heart attack), they are instructed to bring the patients directly to one of the approved STEMI receiving centers, such as Methodist Hospital.
Stroke
Methodist Hospital is an approved stroke center in LA County with advanced capabilities to care for stroke victims. This means that paramedics will transport patients with stroke symptoms to Methodist Hospital, an advanced primary stroke center approved by The Joint Commission.
Methodist Hospital offers comprehensive diagnostic and treatment services for a broad range of neurological conditions, including headaches, neck and back pain, and dizziness. Our neurologists work closely with each patient to determine the exact cause of the complaint and to rule out the presence of an underlying serious neurological condition. Once a diagnosis is established, an individualized treatment plan is developed to meet the patient's needs.
Emergency Services
Methodist Hospital's full-service Emergency department is open around the clock, seven days a week, to treat serious injuries or dangerous symptoms in adults and children. Our specially trained staff includes doctors, nurses and technicians who offer high quality care when you need it most. With state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment located in the department, imaging studies are processed quickly, allowing faster diagnosis and treatment. Wound Healing Center
Chronic wounds are a reality for nearly 5 million Americans, with about 500,000 new cases diagnosed annually. The 14 million individuals with diabetes nationwide are particularly vulnerable to chronic wounds, and are 12 times more likely to undergo limb amputation due to unhealed wounds. While diabetes is a prime culprit, other conditions can also lead to chronic wounds, including arteriosclerosis, traumatic injury, rheumatoid arthritis, congestive heart failure, arterial or venous ulcers and vascular disease. Surgical complications and circulatory conditions can also prevent wounds from healing.
The Wound Healing Center at Methodist Hospital is a vital, compassionate resource for patients with non-healing wounds. Patients may be candidates for our program if their wounds have not started healing in one month or have not completely healed in two months.
The Wound Healing Center, an outpatient department of Methodist Hospital, has healing rates among the highest in the country, with consistently low days to healing. We have healed hundreds of patients since the Center opened in 1998. Our wound healing staff includes general surgeons, vascular surgeons, plastic surgeons and podiatrists.
Appropriate candidates for our program include patients with:
Diabetic ulcers
Venous stasis ulcers
Pressure ulcers
Arterial and venous etiologies
Neuropathic ulcers
Ischemic ulcers
Burns
The Wound Healing Center accepts most insurance plans and welcomes calls to discuss covered benefits. For more information, please call (626) 462-2655. Our wound healing staff work closely with Referring Physicians. If you have additional questions, contact the Wound Healing Center at 626-462-2655. Or e-mail us at [email protected]
Transitional Care Unit
Methodist Hospital has had a Transitional Care Unit (TCU) since 1991. The unit provides "transitional" care for patients who have completed their acute stay in the hospital yet still require skilled nursing and other supportive care before returning to home or other living arrangements. Patients can continue to receive IV therapy and wound dressing changes as well as physical, occupational, speech or respiratory therapies.
The TCU has 26 private rooms. Nursing care is provided around the clock with skilled RN's, LVN's and certified nursing assistants. The unit has physical and occupational therapists whose home base is the TCU so they get to know their patients well. An interdisciplinary team meets weekly to discuss the plan for each patient. Each discipline contributes to the plan to ensure the best possible care for the patient. Because the unit is part of the hospital, every service provided by the hospital is available to the patients as needed.
The TCU provides a valuable service to the patients by allowing them extra time in the hospital to recover from their illness or injury. Our goal is to assist patients to achieve the highest level of functioning prior to being discharged.
