This place only gets 1 star for the continental breakfast. As far as the rooms go, they were not clean. Sure, the beds were made, but we had to switch rooms 3 times in 48 hours. Once due to not additional locks on the door and the toilet was not properly working. The second time the ac wasn't working. The 3rd room we were in had trash right below the ac unit and it was just not cleaned properly. The last draw was finding live bed bugs, right before we went to lay down And that's when we packed up and said NOPE not staying here. Stay away far away!

Older hotel needing some renovations. That being said the staff was friendly and helpful. Pet friendly and no issues. The room was clean and if you need more room then take the double room. Single room is very small. A Waffle House is next door so I liked that. A great BBQ restaurant 1.5 mile East was a great value. Suggested by staff, a good call.

It's a great budget hotel. I loved the beds although my wife found the pillows a little thinner than she would like. I especially appreciated that the AC unit has an "always on" option. This place is pet friendly, although it comes at the cost of a non-refundable deposit of $10 per pet per night. We didn't sample the breakfast but what little we saw when leaving suggested your standard affair. The one thing I found less than desirable was that, at least in our room, there's a large gap under the bottom of the door leading to the hallway which not only allows a lot of noise in, but would have allowed our small cat out. I ended up stuffing towels under the door to prevent losing a pet in the night.

I stayed at Microtel for months. I ended up moving out because of a bedbug infestation about 2 weeks ago. I showed the bites to the staff immediately and took pictures. I started looking around and the bugs were all over the place! I even found them in the bathtub after I had soaked in it and then drained the water, that's how infested it was! They were even in my hair! I was moved to another room. After I had moved all my stuff, they tell me I need to move to a different room, because they shouldn't have put me into the one they did. When I went to discuss the bedbug issue with the owner, I was very quiet, polite, and courteous about it- I tried to pull the owner to the side and tell him about it, but by that time the gossip had already spread. He wouldn't look at me or speak to me. At least one staff member saw the bugs themselves, because I showed her, but some of the other employees discussed it amongst themselves and talked about how they didn't believe me, because "no one else had complained." Of course, by now they have, I've heard about other people who were bitten when they stayed there. The way they handled it was atrocious. There was no attempt by either Wyndham (the company that owns Microtel and a few other hotel chains, such as Days Inn) or by Microtel to make anything right- no room comp, no letting me use the washer and dryer after I asked repeatedly, and no apologies. The room that they moved me into must have been infested too, because the bites didn't stop. I had to take all my stuff in trash bags, tied up, and get it all laundered somewhere with a "sanitization mode" to get it hot enough to kill them and their eggs. I understand that stuff happens, mistakes happen, but it would have made a world of difference if they had handled it correctly, treated me properly, made things right, etc. Oh, and the housekeeper who saw the bugs told me that she was going to put the sheets and everything back into circulation with everything else! I hope they didn't, but the fact that she figured she was "going to have to" is awful.

I have lowered my review rating from four stars to one because of the new owners. First of all, this is a older hotel with a few cosmetic flaws but these were easy to overlook when the previous owner from Amsterdam was in control. Now the new owner (from India I believe) has taken over and just within a week of this new management I have never seen a place go downhill so rapidly. Wyndham needs to seriously audit this hotel to see if it should be a part of their group any longer. The new owner is money hungry and added deposits for pets, deposits for the room, and is rude and lectures guests as if they are in prison. He asked how many people were in our room and he barged in unannounced for a "inspection" while we were asleep late at night. With the new owner came BED BUGS! My friend has bites from head to toe and had to seek medical attention from the bed bugs. Since the new owner took over all the house keeper staff have quit or been fired. The hallways now smell of inscense and mold. The maintenance man with a bunch if tattoos propositioned my friend and said some very inappropriate harassing remarks to her while his wife or girlfriend was running the desk. I used to like Microtel as a clean budget hotel for a nice weekend escape but now I would never reccomend this hotel now.
