The receptionist hung up on me when I simply asked what items did they except just for the record I work for a storage company an one of are unit had ten obsolete Xerox machines in it we didn't want to have to throw them in the trash. We weren't expecting Mid-west recycling to pay us. They really need to focus on people skills. Hanging up on people cost money especially if they have a receptionist with a poor attitude .

Keep firmly in mind that anything you leave here may, if they think it's still valuable, be sold, or, as I was told in no uncertain terms last time I was there, simply taken by people who come by and rummage through the big bins out side the building. The staff is actually happy to let people scavenge, since it means there's less for them to have to do. If you're at all worried about your data or that your gear will wind up in a landfill, I strongly suggest that you drive to Jefferson City to Midwest Recycling Center, where they guarantee data safety and environmental responsibility. I wish I'd known Mid-Mo Recycling was essentially a drop-box operation before I'd left so many PCs there over the past few years.

I love this place I've had nothing but great experiences every time I've been there. I'm sorry for the gentleman who commented before me. Maybe it was just a bad day or two but I've always been treated with kindness and respect. It is a great local family owned business. Maybe the gentleman before me could try giving it another chance they say 3rd time is a charm.

Went there on a Saturday. Parking lot open with a number of cars. No gate, no hrs of operation posted. A sign that says "Computer Drop Off" and an arrow showing where to drop off not more than 20 feet from the front door. I came at around noon in broad daylight to drop of networking equipment. No monitors. Owner's wife comes outside with a scowling look and checks out what I'm doing like I'm a criminal. Begins to question me rudely and asking what I'm dropping off. It was pretty obvious as she was about two feet from me. I reply "the kind of stuff you normally want?" and I show her a piece of old networking equipment. She replies (again rudely), "we're not open on Saturdays." A sign would have done the trick rather than the attitude. I told her, "You don't want it? Fine, I'll take it with me." As I'm loading the stuff back in my car, she says "Stan takes care of that stuff, you can leave it there" and shakes her head as if she has nothing to do with it. Well, if she nothing to do with it, then why does she care to begin with? My previous encounter with her several months ago was similar but no mention of hours of operation. I though everyone has a bad day, but now we are two for two. Most people (like myself) would like to come by on a Saturday when they are not busy at work. And if they don't want this, THEN POST A SIGN!! If I were up to something no good, then I wouldn't do it right in front of their door with a parking lot of cars and in broad daylight. These people really need to figure out what they want. I've got a whole storage unit full of recyclable material like this as I do a lot of eBay business. They make their money off of recycling and I use to really like them. I use to drop my stuff off there for no money in return when I could just as easily make money off of it somewhere else because I respected the family owned local business that makes their money off of environmentally friendly work. Well Stan, your wife cost you a lot of money today. There are plenty of other options. You may want to have a talk with her.
