Awesome campground in the middle of the Big Cypress Preserve. Twenty six or so electric-only sites that are asphalt and level. There is a dump site and potable water for campers and RVs is available. Some have large shade trees. Deep pond in the middle with a small alligator and plenty of fish. Bathrooms were clean but did not use. There are full hookup sites but they are probably for the camp host or other workers. Speaking of camp hosts there wasn’t one and therefore the sites were not walk in, only reservations. We camped right across from the purple martin “apartments” so there were very few bugs during the day. Tried to sit out after dark but the bugs got too hungry. Pictures are of the wildlife and pond.

Can't honestly rate. Just happened to break down when driving through area at night. People camping there were helpful. Keep in mind this stretch of road is pitch black at night. No visible light for miles. And no cell service. Went back next day to retrieve truck. Looked like a nice RV campground. Only gave 3 stars to reflect that I was just passing through.

I liked the campground a lot. Very convenient to kayaking, hiking and biking in the glades and big Cypress. Very clean and friendly. Canal across the road has fish and Alligators!!!

Our stay at Midway Campground was exceptional. Our camphosts made us feel welcome. Gwen even had a chair next to her 5th wheel for a "phone booth" so that campers could sit and take advantage of her cell signal booster. We spent an afternoon at Shark Valley and took the tram tour. Get there early or wait in line as parking spots open up. We also kayaked the Turner River and its amazing mangrove tunnels. The stars at night blanket the sky from horizon to horizon. We camped there in February and there were no bugs to speak of.

Lovely campground! Courteous host. Level sites. All situated around a beautiful small lake.
