Moose Point State Park

Story

Moose Point State Park is a day-use public recreation area overlooking Penobscot Bay in Searsport, Maine, located off U.S. Route 1 near the Belfast town line. The state park features panoramic views, hiking trails, tidal pools, and picnicking facilities.HistoryThe park was developed as a dairy farm by the Carver family in 1859. At one point, the 186-acre property had a house, barn, two silos, and sixty head of cattle. After most of the buildings burned down in 1927, the descendants of Captain George A. Carver offered the land to the State of Maine as a park in 1952. It opened in 1963.

The park is a great stop looking out over the bay. There's a playground for children age 5+ that can make this a great stop for a quick family hike and picnic. Be prepared to pay the entry fee for a Maine state park.

This is such a beautiful park. There is a huge picnic area with a park for kids. Visitors can climb down to the beach and explore the tide pools. There are also a few short hiking/walking trails. Only downside-stay on the trail because there is a little poison ivy.

Great quite place with views of the water. Definitely worth a visit. But entry fee of $4 is high
