Front desk is very nice. Has a dock, and you can rent crab traps and kayaks for dock. Has very clean, nice, and private sites. Also has trails, paved launch and friendly kid stuff. And, has a general store where in hours you can buy firewood, ice, ice cream, and coffee. You can also buy breakfast from certain places on certain days. Also has great clean bathrooms. Will rate 5 starts for all of these quantities.

Great family run facility. Sites were nice size and well maintained. The "meeting place" is a nice addition. Island shuttle stops at the main parking lot for free travel to all of the destinations. Floating docks are fun for the kids.

The staff is friendly and the sites are very spacious. The bathrooms are the cleanest bathrooms I've seen on any campgrounds. I didn't get to try any of the local baked goods in the morning because they run out before I get there but their blueberry ice cream is delicious. I would highly recommend Mt Desert Campgrounds to any one who visits Bar Harbor and Acadia NP.

Absolutely amazing camp ground. Each site has it's own electric hookup as well as a wooden platform for you to set up your tent (if you are camping). The views at dusk are spectacular. Otherwise the only word of warning is a 5 minute hot shower will cost you $1, and only quarters are accepted... kinda cheap if you ask me, but that was my only complaint.

I went camping for the first time since childhood this weekend and had such a wonderful experience at Mt Desert Campground. It was such a clean, quiet facility that was confidently located near many of the hiking trails and lakes we went to during our trip. The bathrooms/showers were just a short walk from our camp site. There was never a line for the shower or bathroom despite it being Memorial Day weekend and very busy. I would highly recommend this campground to anyone going to Acadia. We are already planning our next trip back!
