The people working here really make the difference. I’ve been to many museums in the city and this one has some of the most pleasant and passionate staff, who would welcome you with drinks and cookies and then give you a wonderful tour. They were knowledgeable and patient with questions. The museum is small and a visit should last no more than an hour. In a few years, however, they are moving to a bigger building nearby to house their extensive collection. The museum is not particularly well-known, even to locals, and largely depends on word-of-mouth recommendations to attract visitors. They could really use a well-funded and wide-reaching promotional campaign. If you’re arriving via the Staten Island Ferry, turn left at the ferry terminal building and then go one level down. Upon exiting the building, there is a narrow walk path that connects directly to the museum.

Great museum with a knowledge staff. It's in the starting stages but you can learn a lot from a visit. I recommend a visit if you are near by.

They have great boat tours of lighthouses. Worth Signing up for one. The museum is growing and it is a great tribute to lighthouses. If you are a fan you must see.

Tina and Bob are very hospitable, gave us a lot of information, and answered our questions. It's a small but well organized museum.

If you take the Staten Island Ferry to see Miss Liberty don't take the next Ferry back. Spare some time and visit the Lighthouse Museum. It's just some minutes away from the ferry terminal. It's really worth a visit. And if Bob is there, he gives you a great introduction into lighthouse history and the the Lighthouse Museum.
