Pretty big. Nice design for a small airport. It had great views of the Bay Area, and the SF area. The staff are friendly, and its not too crowded. Restaurants are not overpriced, and its easy to get to with BART and easy to get to San Francisco with.

I am a local Oakland resident (Born and raised in Oakland) and fly frequently out of OAK for international business or personal trips. Over the last 3 months I flew three times (1 every month) for business or pleasure using Norwegian airlines. I wanted to share feedback that the customs experience returning back to OAK is extremely poor. While waiting in line for customs I hear all the negative comments from both US citizens and visiting Tourists which saddens me as this is a reflection of Oakland. - The security people continually yell at people to get in line, keep the line moving, put away their phones, etc. in a very rude and unprofessional manner. - There are times when there are only 3 Customs Agents causing the line to move extremely slow. The security staff commented that some people have been waiting in line for over 2 hours just to get through customs. - After customs when we retrieve our baggage we have to get in line again for another 30 minutes to 1 hour to pass through food checks. This check point usually has only 1 person who questions every person extensively. Being from Oakland I am a firm believer in security and safety and by no means do I want any security or safety protocols lifted. But as a global traveler I need to share feedback that the OAK customs experience is probably one of the worst experiences I have had across all the airports I have been to. I hope this feedback reaches open minds in an effort to improve the experience so that OAK airport can be a positive experience internationally.

I much prefer the small airports to big city ones. Easy to navigate. Not super overcrowded. Coffee shop, restaurant, cafe, wine bar and a convenience store. Not much else is needed. Easy commute on BART train from/to downtown San Francisco (about 50 min and $11).

Airport is simple and easy. But I expected to be able to do some shopping. This airport has barely any shopping at all. So don't come early, come as late as you can and just get on your flight, because you won't be needing to spend much time here. Better spend it elsewhere. Other than that this airport has all the necessary and is a fully functional airport.

Oakland airport is relatively small but surprisingly efficient. I will always choose to fly in here rather than SFO mainly due to the location. Much quieter and easier to get where I am going from here.
