Back in the 1990s there were some miniature wood owl living in the potholes on the tarmac at the Hayward Airport. That was memorable. I think they like the excitement of the light personal aircraft.

Awesome clean and safe airport to take flying lessons and fly from. Also have pretty low traffic so not much waiting, which means saving money

Hayward has a well organized, very busy and profitable municipal airport. You can find anything from a jet charter to a flight school and flying clubs. I frequently fly a small airplane out of there. Even for a non pilot the new terminal is worth visiting.
