Story

Every day at 8 a.m., we start chopping veggies, soaking beans, and prepping our mesquite-fired grill. Not because we have to, but because we believe in delicious flavors made-to-order, from hand-rolled enchiladas to our sizzling fajitas to guacamole made right at your table. Everything pairs nicely with a grande margarita, and of course, enjoy the always endless chips and salsa.

There are so many other Mexican places around that are so much better. Our waiter was wonderful, the food....not so great. One order was completely wrong, food was spicy when we asked for it to be mild and appetizers were greasy. They were accommodating and corrected the mistakes. We presented 2 coupons in the beginning and we were given the ok. At the end if the meal we were told only one was valid. The manager did correct this and told us next time we will know we can only use one coupon. I would not eat here again.

It was the first nice day this year so we asked to be seated on the patio. At first they said they weren't going to do that until dinner, so they asked a manager and they let us sit outside. We had a lovely lunch, doing the pick 2 lunch special. Shortly after we sat down, 5 more tables opened up outside! We were very appreciative of the service staff and the food is always good. We housed that queso.

This was far from my first visit to this restaurant but it has been over two years since the last time. Back then I visited them regularly so I was very familiar with this place. To make a very long story bearable it wasn't the best visit I have ever had. Probably the worst visit out of my considerable dining out experience. However it is still a wonderful place to go and we will certainly give them another chance as I'm sure much of the issue was due to an inexperienced or just plain slow server. It was probably their slowest time of the week and they still managed to run out of chips. They finally came out right before the desert. I laughed when she actually still brought them to the table. This was well over two hours after we had been seated. Speaking of the time it took thirty minutes and a reminder for my son to get a refill on his beverage. We were her only table and she still managed to vanish for twenty minutes at a time. I would have thought she was a smoker if I hadn't been one for twenty years and can still pick one out of a crowd even though I no longer smoke. Anyway some people just have off nights so even though she caused us to miss out on our plans we still tipped her the thirty three percent we planned(it was the first time I have taken my oldest out without his brother and he was watching everything I was doing since his brother wasnt there to play with him) but couldn't wait any longer to speak with her as it seemed strange we were standing by our table for fifteen minutes already holding the check. Apparently don't go on a Sunday night with the restaurant at ten percent capacity and servers are literally sitting at empty tables cause they have no tables to serve. Lmao. Still amazing food so go kitchen staff!!!

I typically do not leave bad reviews, but our experience at this restaurant was exceptionally terrible. I ordered a regular chicken burrito with queso over the top and my boyfriend ordered the California burrito. Our food came to the table and the cheese sauce was congealed on my burrito as if it had been sitting on the counter for a long period of time. I wasn’t at all surprised when I bit into my burrito to find it was cold. Needless to say I will never come back. Immediate stomach pains after eating at this restaurant. Save your time and money. Only good thing were the free chips and salsa and our waiter refilled our chips when we were done.

On the Border has always been a good restaurant, we would visit occasionally. However, they seem to have turned it up a notch. They have great specials, and the way they present fajitas is very creative and thorough. Service is very good too. Tasty, as usual, but slightly different, in a good way.
